SHE'S THE MAFIA.

CHAPTER 19.
TO MUCH TO HANDLE.

Janet’s POV

“You kissed me?” I asked in a whisper. My fingers on my lips as I stared at him in shock. He bit under his cheek, looking at me with an unbothered look, “You fucking kissed me?” I yelled aloud.

“Janet- He paused when I raised my palm at him. “Don’t you dare a speak a word, you-you pervert!” I said, glaring at him.

He half smiled, “A what?”

I frowned, “Are you smiling?” He arrested his lips between his teeth and shook his head but couldn’t hide the mischief of his eyes. I clenched my jaw angrily, “Of course. So fun it is, isn’t?”

He scoffed, “It was just a kiss, Janet. Stop overreacting!”

“You’re my boss, Paxton. What do you expect?”

“So, that’s the issue?” He smirked. My mouth shut close and heart skipped a beat. I blinked, not believing that he’s flirting with me! “Well, I wish I could fix-

“I’d like to resign!”

His smile vanished, “What?” I could see the amount of shock in his brown eyes. He was flabbergasted with my statement.

“Yes. You are a pervert! And I won’t work for a pervert like you anymore!”

“You do realize what’re you’re saying, right?” He lifted his one brow at his last word. I crossed my hands against my bosoms, “Yes, Mr. Grey, I do realize what I’m saying!” I said it all clear and straight.

He narrowed his eyes at me, “You can’t leave this company, Ms. Reyes!”

“I can and I will! I just can’t stand you anymore!”

“Why? What did I do?” He sounded angry but his eyes were telling a different story.

“Do I really have to answer what you did?” I retorted, lifting my shoulders. He nodded, “Yes!”

“You kissed me, Paxton!!” I said aloud, resting my hands down, “I mean, no-one on this fucking planet would like to work for someone who kisses his personal assistant like that?”

“I hope you were not on some kind of memory loss pill or something that you don’t remember that the kiss was consensual! I didn’t forced myself on you. I had your full consent. So, for god’s sake don’t act like I’ve molested you or something. And speaking of your resignation? You’ve signed a legal bond with us, Janet. Which means you can’t leave the company until and unless the bond is over! Now, do you mind?” He said the last line by gesturing his hand at the door behind me. I tightened my jaw and looked away, refusing to leave. I couldn’t understand what to do. I was already under stress and my today’s action has increased the level. God! Where the fuck my mind was that instead of pushing him I kissed him back?

He scoffed, “Okay, listen?” I looked at him as a response. “Forget about what happened!”

“Excuse me?”

He dipped his hands in his jeans pocket and let out an audible sigh, “Look, I know what we did wasn’t right and highly unacceptable but we’re humans, Janet. We make mistakes like everyday. If we start taking such stupid decisions after every mistake then our life will be reduced in an unending sequence of torture!” And I literally fell mute with his dialogue. He’s right, Janet. I mean, your resignation will only cause you trouble. Valentino just needs a reason to take you down and your unemployment will give him one. No, you can’t do this. You should definitely think like an adult and forget about this. But we kissed, damnit. We fucking kissed!! How should I get over the fact that I kissed the guy I was supposed to only hate?

“And I’m sorry also,” My eyes softened and heart melted. He continued, “Sorry because I was the one who made the first move. If I should have kept myself in control, you wouldn’t be hating yourself this way!”

“I’m not hating myself!” I retorted, avoiding his eyes as they were again caging me, “I just don’t understand that why the hell I kissed you!” That’s true indeed! I mean, earlier I took my revenge on him by ruining his image at his father’s eyes and then all of a sudden, I’m kissing him. Why?

“The answer is simple!” I frowned, watching him taking his seat as he continued, “We both are going through mental stress. That’s why we couldn’t control our emotions and kissed!” He shrugged, “It’s normal. Happens!”

I looked at him in disbelief. Not believing that he can be so cool after what just happened between us. Or I’m actually over-reacting?

“Go home, Janet!” He said, not looking at me. I frowned, “What?”

“Yes. Take a leave, Ms. Reyes. Go home and rest for day!” I stared at him without a blink. I’ve met many guys in my life but he’s the most weird one. I rolled my eyes and turned around to leave, “Janet?” When I turned to him he was looking at me. I hummed, “Whatever is bothering you, instead of ignoring and enduring... End it!” I couldn’t get his point at first but when I got what he meant by that, I nodded and left his cabin.

All the way home my mind was engaged with Paxton and his kiss. I couldn’t stop thinking about that. I kept asking myself that why did I even kissed him? Alright, he’s handsome and I was all over him on our very first encounter also but his joke vanished it all, right? My interest in him was gone on the day he became the reason of my precious lost, then why did I kissed him? I bit my lower lip, the feeling of his lips against mine sending a cold sensation throughout my body. I touched my lips and remembered the kiss. The sound of our breath and tongue battling with each-other for dominance started ringing in my head. The smell of his breath making me squeeze my legs together as the affection I received from him there was hitting my vulnerable spot. I closed my eyes, sinking into the memory of that hot kiss until I heard a horn.

I shot my eyes open and pushed the breaks immediately. My tire screeched and I was bolted forward by the sudden halt. When I looked at the guy on the ground and his bike on the other side, my eyes widened and my hung open, "Oh my god!" I hurriedly got out of my car and helped him up, "I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" He took off his halmet and grunted, putting his hand on his back. "Does it hurt so much? Should I take you to hospital?" I asked him with true concern for him.

He shook his head, "No, it's okay. I'm fine!" Holding his back he walked towards his bike with clumsy steps and picked it up. I pressed my lips together in a thin line, looking at him with guilt.

"I'm extremely sorry, Sir!"

He looked at me and said, "It's okay, Ma'am. It happens!" He hoped on his bike and checked if it was also fine and blessedly it was. He looked at me and smiled, "It's okay, ma'am. I'm completely fine!" I smiled back but the guilt was evident on my face. He wore his helmet back and came to me, "Be careful while driving from next time," I nodded and he raced away. I surely took his advice and will take care of it from nexy time but it hadn't happened if I wasn't caged in Paxton's thoughts. My mind blamed him and his hot kiss for what happened!

I sighed with gloomy eyes, “You shouldn’t have kissed me, Paxton!” I put my palms on my face and added, “You shouldn’t have!!”

.

.

.

It was already dark when I returned home. All tired and slightly high. Yes, Paxton offered me a leave in the morning but after what has happened earlier, I needed some alone time with myself. I locked my car and dragged myself towards my home's door. I was tired. Not by work this time but with stress. My head was spinning and eyes were burning. I lazily lifted my hand to ring the doorbell but didn’t when I noticed that the door was opened. I frowned and lightly pushed the door open, walking inside only to find it all dark and silent. "Vero?" I called her but received silence. Turning around, I pressed a button to turn on the lights but it didn't worked. "Fucking hell!" I scoffed and pulled out my phone to call Vero. The fact that she left the house unlocked was driving me mad. How could she be so careless?

“Good evening!” Said a chilling familiar voice from upstairs. I whipped my head at the source of the sound and saw a shadow a guy, descending the stairs casually. Still cloaked in darkeness, I could clearly see who it was. My knuckles turned white by the strong clutch around my iPhone and jaw clenched, "Valentino?" My voice was full of loath.

He descended the last stair and came into the light. "Charlotte!" He said and threw me his perfect smirk. Though, the entire hallway was dark but the rays of the gracious moon coming in from the windows was giving me enough light to see his appearance. He was a wearing a pair of expensive laofers and perfectly tailored Armani pants. A white shirt, tucked in with a few buttons of it left undone. His sleeves were rolled up, displaying his intricately designed tattooes that stretched from the back of his palm to neck. He was a massiv man, standing at about 6'3 and made of solid muscles.

"What're you doing here?" I asked the obvious. He took a step forward to me, closing the distance and replied, "What do you think?" His breath fanned my skin and sends a shiver down my spine. No matter, how much I refuse to accept it but he still have an effect on me.

"Get out!" I said, looking into his dark blue eyes straight. He let out a low chuckle and walked past me, towards the kitchen. Completely ignored me. I turned around and repeated myself, "Valentino, I said get out!!" He didn't responded to me and took an apple from the fruit basket. My anger shot up, "Will you leave yourself or you want me to use my way?" He turned to me with a fearless unbothered look and took a bite of his apple, resting his butt against the wall. I opened my mouth to say something but couldn’t when it hit me. My eyes slightly widened and heart almost stopped. “Where’s Vero, Valentino?”

A furrow appeared between his brows as he asked by lifting his shoulders, “Vero who?” He was clueless.

“Veronica Davis!” I could feel my heart drumming inside my ribcage in fear. "My friend!"

“You have friends?” He took another bite of his apple and added, “I’m surprised!”

I stood in front of him and grabbed his shirt's collar, “Stop playing with me, Valentino and tell me where is she?” He chewed his apple and kept smiling at me with an amused look. I snatched his apple and threw it away, grabbing his collar with my both hands now, “Answer me!!”

"Can I have some water?" He asked in his gentle tone. I opened my mouth to yell at him but couldn't when he said, "Please?" Although the worry was eating me inside but don't know why I left him and grabbed a glass of water for him.

"Here!" I said, passing it to him. He smiled and took the glass before drinking it down in one attempt. When he put the glass down, I asked, “Now, tell me where is she?” I was anxious.

He raised his brows at me, “Hm?” I tightened my jaw and grabbed his shirt’s collars again, “Stop irking me the fuck out of me, Val, and tell me where is she?!!”

He looked at my lips then back into my eyes, “Kiss me first!” My eyes raged and grip tightened around his collar, “I will kill you!” This time my voice held pure rage but hell if I scared him a little. “Valenti-

“She’s dead!” And the floor beneath my feet slipped away. My grip loosened on his collar and I took a step backwards with a disbelief look. He stared at my pale face with amused eyes and broke into a chuckle, “Kidding, darling. She’s completely fine. And if you don’t believe me. Call her out now!”

“Vero!” I was quick to call her.

“Yeah?" Hearing her reply, my head was snapped on the upstairs. I threw a deadly glare at Val and headed upstairs but was halted when he grasped my forearm and yanked me to him. When I looked at him in surprise he says, "Dear, Vero. Why don't you tell your friend to not worry about you?" I frowned.

"I'm completely fine, Janet! Don't worry about me. Just whatever he says," Said Vero, making him to smile at me. I looked at upstairs and then at him, "What did you do to her?"

"Nothing!"

"Nothing?" I jerked my hand out of his grip rudely, "She sounds scared and didn't said a word until now! Why?"

“Because she’s on gunpoint!”

My eyes widened, “What?” He smiled, looking at me with an amused look. "You- I was about to yell at him bad for keeping Vero at gunpoint but because going to her first was more important at the moment, I turned around and rushed upstairs but just as I took a step on the first stair, he grasped my wrist and yanked back. My body bumped into his hard chest by the force he used. "Leave me, Valentine!" I seethed, trying to pry him off.

“Relax. I know she matters to you!” He said in his soft gentle tone. I freed my hands from his hold and pushed him back, going upstairs in a rush.

I jerked open the door of Vero's room violently and snapped everyone's head on me. "Janet?" Said Vero, standing to her feet from the bed. Her eyes holding both paranoia and relief. I looked at the guys then at their guns pointed at her. Seeing my outraged demeanor, they immediately lowered their guns and give me a quick bow.

"Get the fuck out!" I ordered, glaring at them to death.

"If you wish a death, then try taking a step!" Said Valentino from my back. His voice sounded dark and raged. I turned to him and clenched my jaw, "Are you wishing a death, Mr. D'Amlio?" He ignored my threat and said, "We need to talk!" His voice was flat but eyes were full of rage.

I frowned, "Talk about what?" I couldn't understand why was he suddenly angry about. He looked at my hand and took my palm in his hands, caressing the back of it gently as he replied, "About whose cologne is on you!" My heart thumped and his eyes turned dark.

Oh no!

Oh no!

Oh no!

Oh no!
