PREGNANT.

CHAPTER 9.
The following five weeks went by in a blur. Of course, I was further along, and I started to show. Gabby decided that the following day after my parent's anniversary party, she would throw me a housewarming party. She, Aug, and Odell invited their famous friends to the party. It was a nice thing to do, and I would have enjoyed it more had I been able to drink just a little bit. Now I'm no heavy drinker, but I do like to have a little something. My classes are going well, and I am getting ready to finish this semester and then start the next semester, and then I can graduate and start my career.

"Alright, that wraps up this class. I expect to see great papers the next time we meet next Tuesday. Don't overthink it, just let it come to you," my professor said. Mr. Gans was a cool guy, he respected everyone, and everyone had the same respect back. Everyone was mainly cleared out when I walked up to Mr. Gans. I had already started on my paper, and I wanted to know if I was headed in the right direction.

"Ah, Ms. Alsina, how can I help you" he smiled at me.

I returned the smile, "Well, you know me, I'm already ahead on the paper..." I started to say.

"And you just wanted feedback. I understand; you're a great student. I wish all my students were like you. Let's take a look," he finished. I handed him my paper, and we sat down and discussed the good and bad things. About 20 minutes later, we finished, and I started gathering my stuff. Thanking him, I left the classroom and headed out to my car. I stopped at the Starbucks little shop they had and got an iced coffee. Yes, I know, but I'm allowed to have some caffeine. I paid, then went out to my car and got in. I drove back to my apartment, which I have come to love. Odell spends a lot of time here, he wants me to move back in with him, but I need to do my own thing, have my own thing. If we were getting married, that be different, but that's never going to happen, so it's better that I'm on my own for now. I didn't give him a key; the only person who had a key was August. I didn't even give my best friend one. I took the elevator to the third floor and walked down the hall to my door. Of course, Odell was there waiting.

"Please tell me you haven't been waiting that long," I said.

He gave me a weak smile, "Only an hour. I forgot you had class today".

"Next time, text me," I said, unlocking the door.

"I did, five times," he said. I took my phone out of my purse and checked it; sure enough, he texted me, and so did August and Gabby.

"Sorry." I checked Gabby's messages. First, it read:

You're not going to believe this, but I got the role for the movie!!!! Call me when you get this ASAP!

I'm glad she got the role, I know she was dying to get it, and she got to play next to her favorite actor, Dwayne Johnson. I was going to go on set to meet him. I looked at Aug message next:

Hey sis, I need you to call me after class and try before you go to work too. Mom and dad are looking for you. I didn't give them your address, call me asap. Love you

What the hell could they possibly want, I wondered.

"Ash," Odell said. I looked up from my phone, and he was staring at me.

"Sorry, what did you say," I asked?

"If you wanted to catch a movie tonight"?

"Um, sure, after I get off work, which I get off at 9," I replied. I walked into my bedroom and changed out of my street clothes and into my black jeans and referee shirt. I was only working part-time at Foot Locker. I had money, I just wanted to keep busy, and they offered me the hours I wanted, so I took it.

"Okay, I'll meet you here after you get off work," he said.

I nodded and smiled, "Sure." I got back on my phone and called August.

"Hello," August answered.

"Hey, what's going on," I asked, getting straight to the point. Odell kisses my cheek, then waving, he left my apartment. I placed August on speaker, so I could continue to get ready.

"Well, as I said, mom and dad are looking for you," he said.

I spat and rinsed my mouth, " Yeah but why. What do they want"? He didn't say anything. I began to get worried. I'm not a materialistic person, but if they take my money away, I need to start looking for a full-time job, or I could lose this place. I waited until August said something. I put my hair into a tight bun and gathered my purse and charger. I was on my way out the door when August finally spoke up.

"They want to meet up with you to talk," he told me.

"Well, I'm kind of busy these days, so they're going to have to take a ticket and get in line," I joked.

"See, I told you this was a waste of time," I heard my mother say in the background.

"Wow, August, don't ever do this again. If they need to sit down and talk to me, they can call me themselves. Look, I have to go, so I love you, and I will talk to you later," I said. I then ended the call by putting my cellphone in my back pocket. When I got to work, it was already busy. The school was out for the teens and younger kids. Adults were there too with their children trying on shoes. The place was packed; it didn't help that we had a sale going on, so that alone was drawing in more customers.

After a long day at work, I arrived back home and found Odell waiting once again. It was annoying yet kind of sweet. More on the annoying side, though. I was so tired, and I had to get started on finishing my paper.

"Look, can we do a rain check and just watch a movie here," I asked, unlocking the door and going in.

He followed, "I have a better idea. How about I run you a bath, and when you get out, I'll give you a massage". Now that did sound nice, but I needed to finish my paper. Then again, I have a whole week to do it, and I'm only two pages away from reaching the goal.

"Okay, I'll be in my bedroom," I told him. He went to the bathroom, and I heard the water start running. I stripped out my clothes and then put my purple silk robe on. I laid down on my bed and closed my eyes, and I drifted off to sleep.

Odell shook me awake, "Ash come on, wake up".

I opened my eyes, and Odell was standing over me. He helped me sit up, then I stood up, and we walked to the bathroom. I dropped my robe and looked back and caught Odell just staring at me. I smiled and got in the tub. Odell brought me some food to eat; he knows me so well.

After my bath, Odell gave me the most amazing massage I've ever had in a while. Odell and I were lying in my bed when a knock at the door. I put my robe on and went out to open the door.

I opened it, "Yes." August and my parents were standing in the doorway. I glared at August, but he just gave me a worried smile. I let August in; then, I stood in the doorway, blocking my parents from entering.

"Ash," August said.

I ignored him, "What do y'all want"?

"Ash, can we come in... please," my dad asked? I turned my gaze to him, and he looked sincere. I looked at them for a minute; then, I stepped back, allowing them in. I went to the bedroom and closed the door.

"Who's here," Odell asked?

"August brought my parent over here after I told him not to. Put your shirt on; I'm not facing them alone. Otherwise, I might hurt my mom. With her smart ass mouth," I told him. He didn't say anything else. He just got up and got his shit on. I threw my pink and black silk pajamas, breathed, and opened the door. I grabbed Odell's hand and led him to the living room, where my parent sat on the couch. Odell sat down on the chair, and I sat on his lap, my mother gave a disapproving looking, and I gave her a smile.

"Why are y'all here" that was my only question.

"To apologize. We had no idea you felt that way," my father spoke up.

I chuckled, "Then let's hear it, but I want it coming from her lips only." I pointed to my mother. She looked applauded as if I requested her to admit a crime she knew she had done but lied about it.

"I will do no such thing," she said.

"Then get out of my house," I replied. She stood up, and so did I. Odell pulled me back down on his lap, and my father pulled his wife's back on the couch.

"Oh, you're going to apologize, or I'm leaving you," my father yelled. Everyone's gaze turned to my father, no one was expecting that, but I knew he had been going through hell for years putting up with her crap. My mother looked so surprised; August stared in shock.

"Okay, dad, it's not that deep," August spoke up.

"Like hell, it isn't. Like Ashlyn here, I've been putting up with her crap as well. I'm sorry, August, but she even put you before me. I'm done with it," my dad finally spoke up.

"Ma," Aug asked? I guess he had no idea and couldn't see it even as the years went on.

My mother stood and walked to the door, but she didn't open it. She just stood there. We all watched and waited in anticipation. I got up and slowly walked over to my mother; I turned her around and hugged her. At first, she seemed surprised, but she relaxed and hugged me back. We hugged for quite a while, and she cried while hugging me. After she got herself together, she pulled back.

"I am so sorry to the both of you. For years I treated you both so horrible. Ash, I just wanted you to be better than I was; I wanted so much for you. I don't know if you can ever forgive, but I promise to be a better mother to you" she hugged me again and then walked back over to her husband. She sat on the couch and took his hands.

"Daniel, I've put so much pressure on you and made you feel unwanted. I treated you like you weren't worth anything, and you were supposed to be the man of my dreams. I am so sorry... it hurts me to look into your eyes and know that I messed up so bad with you. I love you so much; I love you all so much. I know forgiveness doesn't happen overnight, but I'm hoping with time, you all can forgive me, even you too, August," she finished. My dad pulled her into his body, and she cried while he held her.

After another hour, everyone left except for Odell. I need to try better; if I want us to be in a successful relationship, I need to do better for him. We went back to the bedroom, I curled into him, and he held me; one hand rested on my belly. I felt safe and loved, finally.

PREGNANT.

CHAPTER 8.
It's been a couple of weeks since I moved in with Odell. Things have been hectic between being pregnant, Odell's practices, games, and college. I also have been helping Gabby with her job; she was successfully able to move back to New York and still do her job. Things were good; I've had them there to help me. I'm only ten weeks pregnant, and I still have not told my parents I am pregnant. The time has come, though, that I have to tell them. My parents are having their 30th anniversary today, so I guess this is the perfect opportunity to let them know.

"Hey Ash, we need to go so we aren't late," August said.

He was taking me to one of his sound tests. I decided I should go, but I was going to drive separately because I had to study at the library. I had a paper due in four days, and I wanted it to be perfect. I also had other homework, but I could start doing that at the recording studio.

"I'm coming, August" I packed a few more things in my book bag and then put it on my back. I then grabbed my phone off the charger and put it in my purse. I held onto my purse and left the room. I had on my white wedges, with light blue jeans and a white blouse. I had my hair pulled back into a bun and a white bow holding my bun in place. I was walking down the stairs when my cell phone began to ring. I continued to walk down the stairs while I dug in my purse and pulled out my phone. I looked and saw Odell calling. I reached the bottom of the stairs and slid the phone into my back pocket.

"You're not going to answer it," August asked?

"Nope," I said.

"Should I even ask" he questioned?

"Things haven't been good here for me. Odell keeps having parties daily; then, he comes home late. I'm about to sign a lease to my apartment. I found a perfect two-bedroom," I admitted.

"Have you talked to him about it"?

"Yes, the third night. Why do you think I spent half a week at your place". He looked at me for a moment. We walked out the door, and he opened my car door for me. I took off my book bag and put it in the car; then I got in my car. August closed my door my car door. He then went and got in his red Rover. He drove, and I followed. When we got to the studio, I sat on the couch and got my laptop out of my bag. I opened it and started my paper. I would occasionally look up and chime in when August asked.

About an hour later, I gathered my stuff and stood up to leave. Aug saw me and came out of the recording room and came up to me. He carried my book bag and walked me back to my car.

"Be careful, okay?" he told me.

"Always," I smiled. We hugged, then I got in the car and watched as he made his way back in. I drove to the library and parked in the closet spot. I got out and went in and took a table in the back, far away from everyone else. I started studying and studied for about three hours. I finished my paper and got a lot of my homework done as well. It was around 3 pm, and I needed to get to the realtor's building to get my key and sign my lease. I got there around 3:20 pm, and I got there just in time. I then called a moving company, and thankfully they didn't close for another two hours. I gave them the address, and they said they would meet me there. My parent's party didn't start until 8 pm, so I had enough time to get things done.

At Odells house, I managed to get everything out and back to the new place within those two hours. I needed to go shopping for furniture and kitchen wear. I had three hours left to spare. After the movers left, I locked up and went to IKEA to look. My phone started to ring as I entered the store.

"Hello," I answered.

"Hey, what you up to" Gabby's voice came on the other end.

"Shopping for furniture and stuff like that. I just got my apartment. Come to IKEA, and we can talk," I told her.

"Already on my way," she said. I smiled and then ended the call; I loved my best friend, she was more like my sister, and she always had my back. I started looking for couches and beds. I found the perfect bed, I talked to an employee, and they put it on hold for me. I got a text from Gabby; I texted her explaining where I was. She walked up behind me and scared the living crap out of me.

"I told you not to do that," I scolded her. She just laughed, and then we hugged. "I found my bed. I need you to help me pick a TV, couch, nightstand, coffee table, and a dining room table".

"Looks like we have a lot of work before your parent's party," she said. We started looking and finding the perfect items for my new apartment. They said they would deliver the stuff tomorrow morning.

"I need you to give me a ride," Gabby said as we walked out of the store.

"Where is your car," I asked?

"We did a carpool today," she answered. I nodded, and we walked up to my Audi; we got in, and I drove to my new apartment. Gabby was already dressed nicely; I needed to change for the party. I ended up in a strapless red tight-fitted dress that stopped at my knees. I pulled my ribbon out and let my hair fall. My hair came down to the middle of my back; I've been thinking of cutting it again. I stood in my mirror as I applied some lip gloss. I changed my purse to a little black hand purse. I put my lip gloss, phone, compact mirror, lotion, and keys in my purse. I went into my bedroom and pulled on my black pumps on.

I walked into the living room where Gabby was waiting, " Alright, I'm ready."

She looked over me and smiled, "Damn, you look hot."

"Thanks. Let's get out of here". We left my apartment and rode the elevator down to the lobby. As we walked down the sidewalk, some guys tried to get our attention. Neither one of us paid them any attention; we kept walking to my car. We got in, and I took us to the hotel my parents rented for the party. When we got there, I gave my key to the valet, and we walked into the hotel and towards the party.

"So I decided I'm going to tell my parents tonight," I told Gabby.

"You picked tonight of all nights? Their Anniversary" she looked at me like I had lost my mind. In all honesty, I probably have. My mom loves for the spotlight to be on her, and tonight when I make my speech, I'm going to steal her shine and set my parents straight—something I should've done a long time ago.

We found our seats, which of course, were at the same table with our parents; I'm surprised they didn't put me at some random table like they used to.

"Ashlyn and Gabby. So glad you two could make it," my father came up to us. He hugged us both but hugged me a bit longer. Then he pulled back and just looked at me and gave me a sad smile.

"So good to see you, dad" I forced a smile. My father wasn't as bad as my mother, but he never stood up for me; he was just a pushover. I felt bad for my father, but I felt terrible for myself even more.

"Ash," I heard my mother's voice from behind me. I turned, and she had her arms held out with a big fat fake smile plastered on her face.

"Hi, mom," I hugged her. She moved on to Gabby quickly, and I took my seat on the other side, away from my mother. Gabby sat beside me on my left, and August came out of nowhere and sat down on my right.

"Odell has been blowing up my phone all day looking for you," he told me.

"What did you tell him," I asked? He didn't say anything; he just looked at me. "You better not have told him where we are." Before he could say anything, I looked up and saw Odell standing by the table. I stood up and walked up to him; he grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the room and somewhere more secluded.

"You just disappear and pack your shit and leave without telling me," he questioned?

"I told you, either get your shit together, or I was leaving, and you didn't. I'm pregnant, and I don't have time for games. I have classes, and I need my sleep. I can't do that with your parties every night," I explained for the fifth time.

"I'm sorry, I'll stop them; just come back," he apologized.

"No, I already got my place. I gave you a whole week to change it, and you didn't. I need to get back to my parent's party," I said. I turned to leave, but he grabbed my arm to keep me from walking away.

"Get your hands off her," a voice said. Both Odell and I looked behind me and found August glaring at Odell. Odell slowly released my arm.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you, Ash" Odell looked in my eyes.

"It's fine. Let's all get back out to the party," I said. I walked towards Aug and smiled at him, then passed him and back into the venue. I could already tell that things tonight were not going to go well, and I would have some part in that. When I didn't see Odell and Aug right behind me, I knew Aug had stopped Odell so that they could talk. I found my way back to my seat, and a few minutes the boys walked to the table. August took his seat next to Gabby, and Odell stood at the chair next to me.

"Can I sit next to you?" he asked me?

"Sure," I smiled. Odell sat, and a photographer came and took a picture of the four of us. I got out my phone and asked the guy to take a photo of us on my phone, and he did, then handed my phone back to me. After the event began, it was time for August and me to make a speech. I let August go; first, I wanted them to feel sentimental, and then I would go in and crush their happiness as they did for my whole life. August made a good speech, it was loving, and my parents face said so.

"Next up, my little sister Ashlyn" August announced. I looked at my mother's face as I stood up, she knew I was about to cause hell, but she couldn't stop me. I made my way up to the podium and found my mother's face.

"First off, I want to say happy anniversary to my parents, and I wish them many more years with each other. I hope that one day when I finally get married, I have 30 plus years with my husband. Thirty years that's quite a few years, but it's a blessing. What's not a blessing is how I was treated growing up" I looked out at the crowd, and their faces changed. My mother's face was filled with disgust, my father looked sad, August just shook his head, Gabby's mouth was gaped open, and Odell just smiled at me. It was time the world knew.

"I grew up in a loving home, except the love went to my brother. I was the outcast, and my mother treated me like shit. She still does; she thought I would be the fuck up in the family and make the family look bad. What's sad is that my pathetic father just stood there and never stuck up for me. Not even once. I wasn't included in many things, and after my brother was a teenager, he started to be out of the house more, so he never saw how disrespected my parents were to me. He was too busy with females to look out for his little sister, but I don't blame him; how could he know. I never told him. I'm up here to say thank you to my parents. You mistreated me, and I became a better person than you two will ever be. August, I love you, and I thank you for being my brother" I smiled. Everyone just sat there stunned. August started the clapping, and everyone chimed in. I started to go to my seat when I remembered one thing. I went back to the podium.

"Oh, and one more thing, mom and dad, I'm pregnant with your first grandchild. A grandchild you will never see because I wouldn't want you to rub off on my child. That's all," I finished. I walked back to the table and sat next to Odell and Gabby. Both Gabby and Odell smiled at me, and August was trying hard to hold back his laughter. I looked at my mother, her face was so red, and my father looked ashamed.

After everything was over and all the guests were gone, my mother approached me. She didn't say anything at first, just stared at me. My father stood behind her.

"How dare you," she finally spoke.

"The same way you dared to treat me my whole life," I said. She then slapped me across my face. I touched my face and that kind of hurt. I saw August coming to my rescue, but I held up my hand to stop him. He just looked at me with worry on his face. I'm not the same scared little girl anymore. I smiled at my mother, and then I punched her in the face. She fell back into my father's waiting arms.

"Ashlyn," August walked up to me.

"She asked for it, and I'm done being her doormat. I don't need her in my life, and I certainly don't want her in it either," I told him.

"But did you have to hit her," he asked?

"Did she have to hit me" I answered his question with his own? "I'm out," I said. I left the building, and I knew Odell was walking behind me; what I didn't expect was Gabby to be following.

"Where will you go," Odell asked?

"August house for the night, then I'll be in my place tomorrow," I told him. He walked us to my car.

"Do you mind if I come over to help"?

"No, I'll send you the address when I get to Aug's house." He nodded and opened the car door for me, I got in, and he closed the door. Gabby was already in the car. The car ride was quiet, which was strange for Gabby. When we got there, we both went up to my old room. I got out of my old clothes and took a shower. I left a few things here, knowing I would be back eventually. After I got out of the shower, Gabby took her shower. She was too quiet, and I knew something was on her mind. I got in my bed and waited for her to come out. After she did, she climbed into the bed and looked at me.

"What," I asked?

"You rocked tonight. I'm so glad you stuck up for yourself tonight. I'm proud of you" she smiled. I hugged her, and then we turned out the light and then laid down.

"Goodnight, Ash."

"Night, Gabby."

PREGNANT.

CHAPTER 7.

The game against New England went slow, but at the same time, we won the game. It was a good, close game, but we still won. After the game, some of the team went out to celebrate, and I went back to the hotel. I wasn’t feeling up to much. So after, I rode back to the hotel alone. I went up to the room, dropped my purse on the couch, went straight to the bed, and laid down. I didn’t even have much energy to take my shoes off. Before I knew it, I was knocked out. The next thing I know, I can hear my name being called. I slowly opened my eyes and found Odell standing there looking at me with so much concern on his face.

“What’s wrong,” I asked?

“I didn’t see you at the dinner, so I began to worry. Why didn’t you tell me you were leaving” Odell questioned?

“I told them to tell you that I was going back to the hotel. Clearly, they got distracted. I’m fine; you should go out and celebrate, “I replied.

“No, I can’t go without you there. Are you hungry” Odell took off his shoes and got in the bed beside me, and pulled me close? I shook my head then snuggled up beside him. He felt so warm and smelled so good. He rubbed my back, and I went back to sleep. He let me sleep for about an hour and a half, and then he woke me back up. Of course, I was still sleepy, but I couldn’t sleep all day.

“I took the liberty of ordering you Steak, mac and cheese, and some Lemonade” he was holding a tray full of food.

I sat up, “Thank you. Have you eaten yet” he placed the tray on the bed. Then he walked out of the room and came back with his food. “I see.”

“We have a party to attend later tonight if your feeling up to it,” he mentioned. I didn’t feel like partying, but I knew that if I didn’t go, then he wouldn’t go. I wish he would learn to do things without me and stop trying to baby me all the time.

“Sure, we can go” I smiled at him. He smiled, then he grabbed the remote and turned the TV on.

“After, I have a surprise for you,” he told me. I looked at him, but he was into the TV; he was watching the highlights from the game. After eating, I put the tray to the side and climbed out of bed. I went to the bathroom and did my business. After leaving the bathroom, Odell was still on the bed, eating and watching TV. I went into the living room, yes the room was that big. It had a living room and even a kitchen, and I sat down at the table and pulled out my laptop. I continued working on my paper that was due in two days. I only had another paragraph that I finished up within five minutes.

“Hey, you ready to go” Odell came out of the room, holding both our trays.

“Yeah,” I smiled. I emailed my paper to my professor, then closed my laptop and left it on the table. I got up and went to get my shoes out of the bedroom and slipped them on. When did I take them off, I wondered. Then I smiled; Odell probably took them off. I went and found Odell standing in the kitchen, rising off the plates. He’d be a great husband to someone one day. I stood in the doorway and just admired him. Damn, how can he look so good in just a t-shirt and sweats? He finished up and then turned and looked at me with a smile on his face. He walked over to me and hugged me. He smelled so good, and I could even smell his aftershave.

He grabbed my hand and led me out of the room; I grabbed my purse on the way out. We rode down the elevator and silence. He opened the door for me at his car like the gentleman he was. He drove in silence again; we finally arrived at a nail salon. I got excited; I love getting my nails done. When he parked, I got out of the car so fast I gave myself whiplash. I heard him laugh as he made his way to me. He held my hand as we went inside. He paid for me to get my nails and feet done. I got shellac on both hands and feet, and I got mood-changing nail polish. After we left, I was just in such a happy mood.

“It’s not over,” he said, closing the door behind me. I felt my smile get more prominent. I made sure my nails were dry, and I then held his hand as we drove to the next place, a hair salon.

“Ooo, Odell, you are going to spoil me” I smiled.

“No, I’m going to take care of you,” he clarified. I couldn’t help it; I leaned in and kissed him, he kissed me back too. I like being with him; he makes me feel safe. We got out and went into the salon. I wanted to cut my hair, it came down to the middle of my back, and I was tired of just putting it up in a bun or letting it down.

“You are not cutting your hair,” Odell told me. I smiled at him. I wanted it cut, but Odell wouldn’t let me. So the hairstylist did something fancy with it that involved a braided bun.

“You look stunning,” he said.

I blushed, “Thanks.” When we got back in the car, I applied some lipgloss, which was all the makeup I was using. Last we stopped at a clothing place. “Okay, no, this is too expensive.”

“Don’t complain. This is for you and for the party that’s starting soon,” Odell said. He pulled up at the store, and we walked in. I looked around and saw all these expensive-looking gowns: nice shoes and purses, jewelry, and other accessories. The store was magnificent. The place had beige walls. Tables are set up with the jewelry on them. Dresses hanging up on the wall. I didn’t even realize I had wandered off until Odell called out to me. I looked back, and he was standing by the counter.

I smiled, “Sorry.” Both Odell and the saleswoman chuckled. Odell started talking to the lady, and my gaze traveled over to the most beautiful necklace I’d ever seen. It was a diamond necklace; I bet you it was like 5k.

“Do you like it” Odell came up behind me?

“Yes, but it’s expensive. Come on, let’s finish so we don’t be late to the party” I changed the subject.

“Well, go pick out a dress then,” Odell told me. I smiled then made my way around the store until I found the perfect dress. It was a red gown that hugged my figure. Soon, I would not fit this type of stuff for a while. I sighed as I held the dress in my hand.

“That’s going to look beautiful on you with these shoes,” the saleswoman came up behind me. I smiled, and she led me to the dressing rooms. I got dressed and then slipped on the sparkling red pumps. I looked in the mirror and didn’t even recognize myself, even without any makeup. Wow. I stood there speechless.

“You look beyond gorgeous” Odell came up behind me and stared at me through the mirror. I turned around to him and smiled at him.

“Thank you” I turned back to the mirror and just looked at myself. I never imaged that I could look this beautiful. “We- We should get going. Don’t want to be late”.

“Yes, let’s go” he held out his hand. I took his hand, and he led me out of the store and to the car. We arrived at the party late, but better late than never. We pulled up, and the valet took his keys and walked up the stairs hand in hand. We walked into the room, and it was gorgeous. The room was dark, lit only by balloon lanterns. A DJ was up on the stage grooving, and people were on the floor dancing. They had security guards standing at just about every inch of the room. Everyone was dressed up and looked so beautiful.

“What kind of party is this,” I asked?

“A friend’s birthday bash. August is here,” Odell explained. I nodded my head and then turned back to look at the party. We walked farther into the venue, and a group surrounded Odell. I was pushed out the way without even saying a word. I looked around and found a bar where they were serving drinks. I tried to think of a non-alcoholic drink that I could drink.

“Can I help you?” the bartender asked?

“Are you serving any drinks that don’t have alcohol in them?” I asked?

“Sure, we have soda,” the bartender replied.

“Great, I’ll have a Mountain Dew, please,” I ordered. He nodded then went to get my drink.

“Ash,” I heard someone call out my name. I turned and found August standing there with some random girl attracted to his hip. I rolled my eyes then got the drink from the bartender.

“Thank you,” I said, then turned to walk away, but August grabbed on to my arm. “Jesus, Aug, you almost made me spill the on this expensive dress. Watch what you are doing”.

He looked at me as if I had just slapped him in the face. “Is everything okay?” he asked me?

“Who is she” I questioned.

“A random fan that won’t leave me alone. I thought this place had classy people,” August explained.

“That’s all it better be because Gabby is not some tool you can just play with,” I argued.

“I know. We are dating” August blurred out.

“Well, congratulations, I hope you don’t screw this up” I gave him a fake smile. I looked past him and saw some girl all hugged up on Odell.

August followed my gaze, “Don’t jump to conclusions.” He was right; they could be friends; it looked like that was the birthday girl by the skimpy ass dress she had on and the little tiara on her head. She was an okay-looking nice figure. She was a dark-skinned brunette with her hair cut into a short bob. Her black dress came up mid-thigh, and I swear if she took one bend, the whole world would see her goodies.

“Do you know her?” I asked August, and then I gulped my drink.

“Nah, I know a friend who knows a friend that knows her, and she went through both of them to make sure to invite me,” he said. He started talking again, but it never registered to me because I saw that tramp kissing Odell the next thing I knew. I started to go over there, but August was holding me back.

“What the hell” I turned to look at him.

“You don’t wanna make an enemy, especially with it being her birthday,” August said. I smiled; he was right, but then again, at this moment, all I could think about was getting my revenge. First, I threw my Mountain Dew on the fan that was still lingering for some reason. She then took off running towards the bathroom, I think. I then started to make my way over to Odell and the girl grabbing two glasses of champagne out of two strangers’ hands. I walked straight up to Odell. He looked at me with a surprised look on his face. Before he could say anything, I threw the first glass on him. He looked pissed, then I turned my attention to the tramp and threw the second drink on her.

“Tramp,” I said. I turned and walked back to August, trying so hard not to laugh at my actions. “Take me back to the hotel; I’m tired of this place.” He nodded and then proceeded to escort me out of the venue.

August waited in the lobby; I went up to get my things. I opened the door, and found candles lit and rose petals everywhere. I followed the petals first to the kitchen, where food and apple juice were waiting; I chuckled to myself. Then I walked into the bedroom, where petals lay in a heart on the bed. The lights were off, and only candles lit up the room. A dozen roses lay on the bed, with a note saying, “I Love You, Ashlyn.” I started to cry as I made my way to the bathroom, where water filled the tub with water with rose petals on top and candles lit in here. I was seriously crying. No one has ever done this for me before.

“Ashlyn,” Odell called out. I left the room, and we met in the bedroom.

“I’m so sorry she shouldn’t have kissed me like that, and before I could tell her no, you came up and ruined her outfit. Which she’s not happy about, but I took care of it. None of that matters; all I know is I hurt you. Are you okay” he blurted out at once.

“I’m sorry” I went up and hugged him, and he held on to me tightly.

“No, I’m the sorry one. Ash, I love you and only have eyes for you. This was your surprise; you just went supposed to find out like this,” he explained.

“Odell, I love you too. This is so perfect. Thank you so much” I hugged him again.

“Come on, let’s get you in the tub,” he said.

“Only if you come with me” I smiled at him.

“I like the way you think, shall we” he gestured towards the bathroom.

I kissed him, “We shall.”

PREGNANT.

CHAPTER 6.
It has been two months since I moved in with Odell. My days have consisted of getting up in the mornings to practice with Odell or just sleeping in. My best friend went to Europe, but she should be back really soon. She told me she would try to get her job to let her move back here to New York so she could be here with me.

If August doesn’t have work to do, he is always by my side. Then again, he does it when he has work to do. He drags me to things he has to do without even asking me if I was to go. Sometimes I don’t mind; I don’t have anything else to do. I’ve focused on my schooling and tried to finish the semester. I’m so close to being a Dental Hygienist; I have another year left of schooling and will have accomplished my goals.”

“Ashlyn” Someone yelled!

I do not understand why Odell let August get a key to his house; I will never understand that. I stopped typing and saved my work. I closed my laptop and decided to leave my room. Leaving the room, I walked down the stairs and met August in the foyer.”

“Give me the key,” I said. Aug looked offended, but he handed me the key. I didn’t want him to be to barge in. What if something was going on not like I was planning on them, but still” “Now what is it that you want.”

“I got us tickets to see Gabby at her show in two days; she’ll be coming here,” August announced.”

“Oh my goodness, you freaking rule,” I hugged him,” “Gabby is going to be so surprised.”

August smiled” “Yeah, can’t wait to see her again.”

“I knew you would settle down one day,” I told him. He shook his head, then tried to play it off.”

“It ain’t like the” he shrugged.”

“If you say so. Anyway, I have to go. Odell has his first pre-season against New England today. I need to get there early to not get recognized by anyone. Plus, I have to fly,” I explained.

Beep. Beep. I opened the door and found my ride waiting for me. I ran back upstairs, put my laptop in the bag. I put my overnight bag over my shoulder and carried my laptop on my other shoulder. I looked back in the room to see if I had forgotten anything, and I almost left without my phone. That would have been problematic. I went back and grabbed it, then left the room with my stuff.”

“Let me help you” August was standing at the top of the staircase.”

“Thanks” I let him have the overnight bag. My suitcase filled it with much. I had two outfits in there, my hygiene stuff and shoes. We walked down the stairs; I was glad to have a brother like him. He makes me proud, and I try hard to keep him proud of me. We went up to the car and put my stuff in the trunk.”

“Alright, you be safe now. Call me when you land so that I know that your safe”,” August insisted. See, I have an awesome brother.

I hugged him” “I will, I promise. Love you.” I got in the car and rolled the window down.

“Love you too” August smiled at me. Behind his smile, he seemed sad I would have to figure out what was going on with him. The driver pulled off, and I tried to get my mind ready for the airport. Lord knows I hate flying, and I hate how crowded it be. It took us about twenty minutes to reach the airport. I know I’ve lived in LA for half my life, but every time I drive or ride, I love looking at everything. It is so beautiful here.

“We’re here, Ma’am” “the driver said”

“Thank you,” “I said. I got out of the car and went around to the trunk, where the driver waited. I grabbed my bags and then walked into the airport. As soon as I got in, I saw a young man holding a sign with my name. Thank Goodness it only had my first and middle name; I don’t need people asking me iI’mI’mrelated to August Alsina. I walked up to him and smiled. He took my bags and told me to follow him. I pulled out my phone and did a group text with Aug and Odell.

Me: I don’t know which one of you it was but thank you for not putting my last name... 9:45 am

Odell: Well, it was August’s idea; I just made sure it happened. 9:47 am

August: Yeah, we came up with it together. We knew what could happen, lol, and we know how you are around people you don’t know. 9:50 am

Me: Well, thank you bothI’mI’mabout to board my plane. Also, thank you, Odell, for letting me use your private jet. 9:52 am

Odell: No problem. Have a safe trip, see you soon. 9:53 am

I boarded his jet and settled down in my seat. We took off at precisely Teo’co’clock I laid back and went to sleep. Pregnancy takes a toll on a woman’s body, and it makes me sleepy all the time.

~A few hours later~

I felt Someone give me a light shake. I slowly opened my eyes and found the flight attended standing there.”

“Sorry to wake you” “she gave me an apologetic smile.

I cleared my throat. “It’s okay. Are we there?”

“About thirty minutes left. Did you want to eat something before I la” d” “the flight attendant asked me”

“Sure. Anything you got back there with some apple juice,” I answered. She nodded then walked toward the back. I had planned to get a little more work done for class, but clearly, that didn’t work out. A few minutes later, she came with scrambled eggs, toast, smoky links, and my apple juice.”

“Thank you, but how did you know,” “I asked”

“August, let me know what you like to eat,” she said. See, he’s such a wonderful brother, and I can’t help but love him. I ate my food and found I was a lot hungrier than I thought. By the time I got done eating, we were landing. A few minutes later, the plane landed, and I could stand up and stretch my legs. I got off the jet, and a car was waiting for me. As the driver put my bags in the trunk, I got in the vehicle. Afterward, he drove me to the hotel where the Odells team was staying. Odell was waiting for me in the lobby. I walked in and went up to the front desk.”

“Hello. How can I help you” the receptionist asked?

“Yes, she needs a room key to room 2334,” Odell’s voice said. I turned around and hugged him. I haven’t seen him in a few days” “Well, hello to you too, Ash,” he hugged me back.

I pulled back” “Sorry. It is just weird being at the house by myself; it is so

big.”

“Sorry for being gone for so long. Shall we get up to the room” Odell asked? I shall and looked back at the receptionist holding a key for me. I took it and followed Odell, and the bellhop followed us.

Friday 30 December 2022

PREGNANT.

CHAPTER 5.
I didn’t want to wake up, but I had to pee so bad. I slowly sat up and looked at the clock; 4:30 am. Ugh, I so didn’t need this right now. I got out the bed and made my way to the bathroom. I still can’t believe that I’m living with Odell Beckham. Honestly, it still feels like a dream. His house is unique, and I still get lost sometimes.

I went into the bathroom and did my business. After four weeks of pregnancy, I was ready to die. It was so much throwing up and being hungry and sleeping. It was hard to work every day; I could barely keep anything down. I hope it starts to get better soon.

“You okay,” he asked?

“Dear God,” I jumped out of my skin; why the hell did he scare me like that.

“Sorry, I wasn’t trying to scare you. I apologize” he smiled.

“Then why are you smiling,” I asked him?

“You look cute.”

I blushed, “Well, thanks.” I walked past him, cutting the lights off, walking into the bedroom. He followed me into the bedroom, and we both sat on the bed.

“So, how would you like to spend the day with me,” he asked me?

“I’m going to be spending a lot of time with you from now on. Today is no different,” I said.

“That’s true, alright, just get some sleep, and then when you wake up again, we will start the day” he stood up and pulled the covers back. I looked at him, then got under the covers, and he tucked me in. I kind of felt like a child, but at the same time, it was nice to be taken care of. He walked around the other side and got in the bed. He pulled me close, and he smelled so good.

~Four Hours Later~

I got up and went straight to the bathroom, and threw up. Ugh, I hate morning sickness. After throwing up everything I ate yesterday, I got up, rinsed out my mouth, and brushed my teeth.

“You okay,” he asked? I didn’t jump this time; I had a feeling he was going to do that. I will get my revenge too.

I nodded, “Mmm.” He came beside me and started brushing his teeth. He had such a pleasant smile and great teeth. I finished and went to the shower. I hesitated, I knew he had seen me naked, but it’s not like we’re together.

“Do you have another bathroom?” I asked?

He studied me for a moment before nodding. “Go out the bedroom and to the left. There is another bedroom, your room. All your stuff is unpacked and set up in the room,” he explained to me.

“Thanks,” I said, then left the room. I went to the other bedroom and took my shower. After I wrapped the towel around me, I went into the bedroom and went into the closet. I opened the door and stood there amazed. This closet was almost the same size as the bedroom. All my clothes were hanging up and in the dressers; below was my underwear. My shoes were off to the left and went all the way around the closet.

I clearly have way too many shoes. I noticed clothes that weren’t mine. Gowns, expensive gowns, and clothes and shoes. I hope he doesn’t think I going to wear that. Then again, I would look so sexy in the blue gown. I took it off the hanger and put it on. I then went to the mirror and looked at myself. I think with some make-up, I would look so bad. It was a strapless mermaid deep blue lace gown.

“You look good,” Odell’s voice said.

I jumped that time. “Jesus Odell, stop sneaking up on me.”

“Sorry. I’ll make noise next time”. Odell came up behind me and put his hands on my waist. Oh dear God. His touch sent shivers down my body.

“You truly do look good, beautiful actually.”

“Thank you. I could never pull it off though” I smiled.

“I guess we will find out this Saturday. We have a gala dinner to go to,” he informed me.

“Odell! When were you going to tell me” I questioned? A gala, I can’t go. I didn’t even go to the August gala dinner. I went to his awards, but gala no. They just sit and go through a lot of speeches and awards. I would like the food, though.

“I’m telling you now. It’s in two days. What’s wrong? Do you not want to go” he started asking many questions. I didn’t want him to be upset.

“I’ll go on one condition” I paused just for dramatic effect. Odell looked at me, annoyed. “My best friend has to come.” He looked at me for a moment, then nodded.

“Alright, I need you to hurry up. We’re going to be late” Odell pushed me into the closet and closed the door. I sighed, then picked out some black leggings with an oversized grey sweater with a pink heart in the middle of it. I grabbed my black and white Nikes. I put on my underwear and socks then I got dressed. I walked out of the closet, and Odell was nowhere in sight. I glanced at the bed and found my phone and purse. I put my phone in the purse then left the room.

I went down the stairs and found Odell in the kitchen cooking breakfast. I walked up behind him to see what he was cooking. It was toast, sausage, and oatmeal, no eggs. I’m really going to miss eating eggs.

“Want me to make coffee,” I asked?

He jumped, and I laughed. “That ain’t funny.”

“Sorry, I thought you heard me. It’s not like I was quiet or anything” I started making the coffee. It was brewing when I realized that I couldn’t drink coffee. “Do you have orange juice?” I asked?

“Yeah, in the refrigerator,” he said. I started looking at the cabinets until I found the glasses. I sat them on the island and then went to the refrigerator and got out the juice. I poured us both a glass full, and then I sat down at the island. He portioned out the food and then sat down beside me.

“So why did you want me to move in” I questioned?

“What do you mean” he didn’t look at me.

“Well, we aren’t together. We didn’t have to be in the same house,” I pointed out. He went silent, which caused me to look at him. He was just watching me studying me, which made me look away.

“Well, maybe I do want us to be together. And I want to be there through the whole pregnancy,” Odell stated. He wants us to be together? I didn’t even know he liked me.

“Let’s go, or we’re going to be late,” he said. I took my last bite then followed him out the front door. We got in his red Ferrari, and he drove us to a football stadium. I guess he had practice today; I almost forgot he was a football star. I followed him up until he got to the locked room.

I can’t go in there, all those guys with nice bodies and all their junk just out.

“Everyone is already out on the field,” Odell assured me. I sighed, relieved and sad at the same time. Odell went to his locker and started to get undressed. He had a nice body too, I couldn’t help but stare.

“Like what you see,” he asked?

“Very much so,” I answered honestly. Odell chuckled, which brought my eyes up to his smile. I walked closer to him, and he froze in place. I wanted to kiss him; I wrapped my hands around his neck and started to bring his neck closer to me. At last, our lips finally met, and we kissed. It was different from the time we had sex; it felt natural.

“Ahem,” some cleated their throat. I pushed Odell away from me and looked at the ground; I could feel my face full of heat.

“Well, Odell, it’s about time you showed up,” the guy said.

" Shepard, my man,” Odell and the guy did a handshake.

“You late again. You know coach gonna be on your ass,” Shepard said.

“Who’s your beautiful friend”?

I looked up and found them both watching me. “This is Ashlyn, a good friend of mine.” I’m so glad he didn’t say my last name; guys act differently towards me when they find out who I am.

“Nice to meet you, Ashlyn; I’m Sterling. I’m a wide receiver like Odell,” Sterling explained.

I shook his hand, “Nice to meet you too.” Odell walked back over to his locker to continue to get ready. Sterling pulled me aside so Odell couldn’t overhear us.

“So what’s the deal with you two,” he asked?

“We’re friends,” I said.

“Odell doesn’t bring females friends to practice, so again what’s up with you two” he argued. Well, I guess it wouldn’t hurt to tell him we’re dating.

“I’m really just his friend,” I said. Sterling’s jaw dropped, and I was confused.

“Odell, you have a girl that’s just a friend,” Sterling joked, making his way over to Odell; I followed him. Odell looked at me and smiled, and I smiled back.

“Yeah, so what” he frowned.

“Nothing, I just didn’t think you could get a girl this beautiful to be JUST friends with you, “Sterling joked. Odell punched Sterling in the arm. He was fully dressed, handed me his helmet, and left the locker room with Sterling following us.

After three long hours of watching them run back and forth on the football field, it finally was time to go. Everyone walked past me, and I looked for Odell, but I couldn’t find him.

“He’s talking to the coach. He told me to take care of you” Sterling came up to me. I smiled and nodded. I didn’t know them very well, so you can’t blame me for feeling a little uncomfortable. I followed after him, and he led me to the locker room. I stopped before I got in.

“No way am I going in there,” I told him.

“Alright, you can sit out here and wait,” he told me. I nodded and looked out at the field. When he was gone, I walked back down towards the field and slowly made my way to the field. I looked out as if I was performing. Thousands of people come out to see the football players every week; that’s so crazy.

“Crazy feeling, huh,” a voice said. I turned and found Odell staring at me, smiling.

I started towards him, “Yeah, I couldn’t even imagine doing it.”

“Well, the good thing is, is that while playing, we have to focus on the ball and running, so we have no time to examine the crowd,” he explained.

“Makes sense.” He smiled, then turned and started back towards the locker room, I followed, of course, but I didn’t want to go in there. Okay, let’s be serious. I would love to see some of the players lean and lovely, but I will not be one of those girls.

“Okay, close your eyes, and I’ll lead you safely through,” Odell told me. I looked at him, unsure if I should trust what he said. “I promise nothing will happen to you,” he said. Why am I acting like a child who has never seen a man’s private parts before?

“It’s fine. I’ll walk through on my own. I’m a big girl, but maybe you might want to warn them,” I suggested. He nodded and disappeared into the locker room. A few seconds later, he popped his head out to let me know it was alright. I took a deep breath and then went in.

Thankfully, most of them were still in the showers; the others had a towel around their bodies. Okay, Ashlyn, you got this. My eyes locked with Odell, who was in the middle of stripping. He motioned me over to him; I looked for the door then walked over.

“Sit here. I don’t want you out my sight,” he told me. I held back a frown and sat down facing the lockers. What am I a dog? I pulled out my phone and started playing Candy Crush. At some point, Odell had left my side, and Sterling was sitting beside me. He tapped me, but I was so into the game.

“Ashlyn,” he called my name.

“What,” I said. I looked at him and looked surprised, then I realized that It may have come out the wrong way. “Sorry, I was in the middle of my game, man.”

He looked at me, then burst out laughing. What was so funny? “It’s okay. I just came to ask you some questions,” he told me. I nodded and locked my phone, turning to face him.

“Okay, shoot.”

“So what’s the REAL deal with you and Odell. Like I said before, he has never brought any female friend to practice before,” he asked again. He was so persistent in finding out what was going on between us.

“Why does it matter,” I asked?

“Because he just wants some dirt on me to tell the guys” Odell came around the corner, once again causing me to jump.

“Odell, don’t make the girl jump like that,” Sterling said. I looked from Sterling to Odell, all this just felt too comfortable, and I didn’t like it.

I stood up and turned towards the both of them, ” I’ll be out in the hallway.” Before they could even say anything, I turned and walked out of the room. When I got in the hallway, I pulled out my phone and called August; he answered on the first ring.

“Ash, Are you okay” he sounded out of breath.

“Are you okay?” I asked?

“Yep, just doing stuff,” he said.

“Hey, Ash,” my best friend’s voice came on the line.

“Y’all so nasty,” I said.

“Give me the phone. Didn’t no one tell you to get on the phone” August snapped?

“Okay, well, you weren’t going to tell her, so I did,” Gabby argued. Then the line went dead. So much for a conversation. I slid my phone back into my pocket and went to sit on the floor, but before I could, a wave of nausea hit me. I looked around for a bathroom, but I only found a trashcan. I went to it and threw up.

“You okay,” Odell asked?

“It’s part of the pregnancy, for God’s sake, stop asking that,” I snapped.

“Sorry,” he said. I wiped my mouth and put a mint in my mouth.

“No, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to snap. I did that to Sterling too,” I told him.

“Let’s get you home so we can get you fed and rested” he put his hand on my back, and we walked to the car.

PREGNANT.

CHAPTER 4.
I started moving my stuff from August’s house first.

“But sis, I don’t want you to move in with him, then it means you’ll never come back over here,” August whined. I laughed; I love my brother. To be honest, I was nervous myself.

“August, you know I’ll be back over here” I smiled.

He hugged me, “I know, I’m just gonna act like you trynna leave my life.”

I pushed him off me, “You’re annoying.” I grabbed a box and started to carry it; of course, Odell took the box out of my hands.

“You don’t need to do anything but pack your stuff. Don’t strain yourself,” he told me. Before I could reply, he walked out of the room, and Gabby walked in. She came and hugged me.

“What are you doing here, ” I asked?

“Odell told me you wanted me to come help” she looked confused.

“Of course. You’re here to distract me, so I don’t help move boxes,” I told her. She gave me a look we gave each other when someone pissed her off, and she tried not to go off. “Yeah, I know.”

“Well, since I’m here, where is my boyfriend” she smiled.

I shook my head, “He was just in here.”

“Looking for me” August walked into the room.

“Yeah, when did you sneak out of the room,” I asked?

“Before Odell walked out the room,” he sat down on the bed.

“Hey, boyfriend” Gabby sat down beside him.

“Oh shit, Gabby, is that you” August finally looked at her.

“In the flesh. I know a few months can change a person,” she beamed.

“Damn girl, you look fine as hell” August pulled her close to him.

“August, your room is right down the hall,” I reminded them.

“Nah, that’s where I take hoes,” he told me.

“Damn, I’m special,” Gabby spoke up.

I laughed, “Girl, shut up.” Odell came back into the room, and everyone watched as he grabbed another box and left the room.

“Guess I’m not here,” Gabby called out.

“Girl, he doesn’t really know you. Not everyone pays attention to you,” August told her. She flipped her hair, and I laughed. Modeling gave her confidence, but she still is the same Gabby I knew before she blew up. I don’t really care, but she keeps telling me thanks. Although it wasn’t me who got her noticed, it’s cause she knows August.

“Sis, I don’t want you to leave,” August whined.

“Boy, hush” I glared at him. We all laughed. I packed the last box and picked it up. We walked out of the room and down the hallway.

“What did I tell you” Odell came up the stairs.

He tried to take the box away, but I snatched it away from him. “Stop treating me like I’m so goddamn baby.” I brushed past him and towards the stairs. I stopped halfway down the stairs to hear them talk.

“What did I do,” Odell asked?

“What didn’t you do,” Gabby said.

“Dude, she’s not even that far along, and you are already treating her as if she was on bed rest. Ashlyn is independent, and she doesn’t need all that,” August said.

“Plus, if you keep pushing too hard, she’ll end up right back in this house,” Gabby spoke up. I kept going down the stairs and went outside and onto the truck. I sat the box down and got back off the truck. I closed and locked the truck and then sat on the ground.

I didn’t mean to make him feel bad, but I’m only a few weeks pregnant. I don’t need to be babied. I do appreciate him, though.

“Ash,” someone spoke up. I looked up, and Auggy stood there.

“Hey, there, big bro” I gave him a weak smile. He came and sat down beside me; he took my hand and held it.

“You okay,” he asked?

“I don’t know. I’m kinda scared, to be honest” I looked at the ground. Aug made me look at him, and he hugged me.

“If you weren’t ready for this, I wouldn’t let you move out. I know that you are ready to move out, just like I know that you’ll be a great and fantastic mother. Don’t doubt yourself,” August told me.

“Ashlyn,” someone called out. Both August and I looked up, and both Odell and Gabby stood there. August stood up and then helped me up.

“Come one, girlfriend, let’s give them some space” August held out his hand to Gabby. She took his hand, and they walked back into the house. Odell walked up to me and hugged me; I hugged him back.

“I’m sorry. The way I treated you was wrong, and I hope you will forgive me,” Odell apologized.

“Of course. I just don’t want to be treated as a pregnant person, even though I am one. Do you get what I’m saying” I asked?

He nodded, “Yeah, I do.”

“Good. That was the last box. I’m good to go,” I informed him.

He smiled, “Ready when you are.” I grabbed his hand, and he pulled me into another hug. I know that we aren’t at the point of loving each other, but I hope that we can get to that point one day. We will be in each other’s lives for a really long time; I would hope we form some other relationship besides baby daddy and baby mamma. Gabby and August came back out of the house and smiled.

“Alright, let’s get your new home so we can help you move the stuff in there” Gabby clapped his hands together. I nodded and looked up at Odell. He took my hand in his and led me to his car, which I would be driving. He has a 2016 white Lincoln Continental, so I just want you to know that I’m going to be extra careful.

When we arrived, I actually got to help bring in boxes, well, the lightweight boxes, but it was enough.

“Okay, I’m famished,” I said, bringing in the last box.

“I already got something cooking,” Gabby said. I made my way to the table and sat down; I was actually getting a bit dizzy.

“Ash, you okay,” August asked me? He walked up beside me and took my weight, helping me to the couch instead of the table.

“Yeah, just hungry” I laughed it off. I didn’t need any of them to be worried about me. Gabby came up beside me, bringing a plate of breakfast food. Which included eggs, and boy did they stink. I gave her the plate back, went to the closest bathroom, and threw up. This is not fair; I love eggs.

“Okay, yeah, that was my fault. Sorry Ashlyn,” I heard Gabby outside the door.

“It’s fine” was all I managed to say before I threw up again. After a few minutes of sitting there, I felt okay. I got up and gargled some water, then opened the door. August and Gabby stood there with a half-smile on their faces. I looked past them and saw a distraught Odell. I walked up to him, and he pulled me into a hug. I relaxed and hugged him.

“Now I’m famished,” I said. Everyone started laughing. It’s better if they are smiling than worrying about me. I can worry about myself, and so can a doctor. We all sat down and ate; they threw the eggs away for me. So, we all ate Oatmeal, smokey links, and toast. Gabby can cook; I almost forgot that. I think this would be okay; maybe I can do this pregnancy and be a good mother.....

Maybe.

PREGNANT.

CHAPTER 3.

It’s been a few weeks since I found out I was pregnant and since I told both Odell and August. Odell has been by my side and so supportive, but I know that he’s not ready for no kid. Hell, I’m not ready for a kid. I don’t know the first thing about being a parent, but I bet you I’ll be a better parent than my parents ever were.

“You know you don’t have to go,” Odell told me. I slipped on my jeans; thank God I haven’t gained that much weight. I’m only six weeks in, so I am petite at the moment.

“I know, but I don’t wanna be a stick in the house either,” I said.

“No, she just doesn’t want me to look after her no more” August walked into the room. Both Odell and I chuckled. Since August found out I was pregnant, he has been by my side and has been a little overprotective.

“That too,” I mumbled only loud enough for Odell to hear. I looked at Odell with pleading eyes, and he smiled at me.

“Okay, let’s go. We can’t be late,” he replied. I grabbed my purse and took hold of Odell’s hand. I kissed August’s cheek on the way out. Odell was such a gentleman, always opening doors and putting me first. I loved that about him; his parents raised him right. I just wish I could meet his beautiful parents. He hasn’t told them about the baby yet, but I can’t really argue because I have yet to tell my parents. He opened the car door, and I got in. After he closed it and went around and got in himself, he started the car and took off. I hooked my phone up and played my playlist. The first song that came on was August, of course. I love my brother’s music.

“Do we really gotta listen to him” Odell complained jokingly?

“Yes, now hush” I smiled. August’s new song “Wait” came on first, so I sang along.

“I’m not telling you to wait on me

I’m not telling you to wait on me, no

I’m not telling you to wait, but I’m hoping that you’ll wait”

“You sing,” Odell asked? I shrugged and looked outside. I got a little talent like my brother, but I ain’t no singer like him.

“Just a little bit” I smiled.

“Well, keep going,” he urged.

“I got a lot going inside my mind

Don’t think for a minute that I’m a fool

Don’t know what I’ll do if I lose you

You need someone who will be there to hold you

I can’t even say that it’s fair, but I do

Hope you know I’ll always be here if you need me

What I gotta say isn’t easy”

“You need to drop a single” Odell looked at me.

“Nah, I ain’t my brother. That’s his thing, ya know” I looked at the car in front of us.

“I feel you, but you need to start doing something. I’m sure you would do great modeling or even acting,” Odell said.

“I’ve always wanted to try both, but soon I’ll be too fat to model and won’t be able to do everything they need me to do for acting,” I explained.

“Imma get you set up” he ignored my comment.

I chuckled, “Thanks.” We arrived at the stadium that he practices in, and he parked in the back. When I stepped out of the car, I examined my surroundings; expensive cars lined up parked. I sighed; I wish I could make the money they make, then maybe my parents might accept me. Odell touched my back, and I jumped.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you” he smiled. I shrugged it off, and we started walking towards the entrance. “You okay? You seem deep in thought”?

“Yeah, I was just thinking that maybe if I made the type of money you or Aug make, then maybe my parents might accept me.”

He stopped walking and made me face him, ” You are perfect the way you are. If they can’t accept you, that’s their problem, but don’t you dare change”. My heart did a little jump, I loved when he-. Wait, no. No feelings; he is just the baby daddy.

“Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind,” I smiled. Maybe I was looking at this all wrong; maybe I needed to get over the fact that my parents would never love me as much as they love August. I stepped a little ways away from Odell; he didn’t seem to notice. We walked into the locker room, and the whole football team was there, changing. I immediately covered my eyes with my hands. This was so not something I wanted to see, well, maybe a little.

“Odell? Who’s the girl” a guy asked?

“Yeah, she’s hot,” another person made a comment.

“Thank you,” I said automatically. I heard the guys chuckle, and I slowly moved my hands away from my face. A group of guys stood in front of me. Some had their shirts off, while others were fully dressed. Lord, help me keep my mind on track.

“Y’all remember August Alsina” Odell asked? The young men nodded. “This his little sister, Ashlyn Alsina,” Odell said. They all looked at me, speechless.

“I never knew he had a sister,” Eli spoke up.

“A fine little sister at that,” Victor said. I only knew a few of the football players, thanks to Odell and August. August mentioned being friends with them; he even took me to a game, but that girl had been with us, so I left early. I really hope he has left the girls alone, for everyone’s sake.

“Well, here I am. It’s nice to meet you all finally” I smiled. They all just stared at me.

“Come on, let’s get you away from them” Odell went to touch my arm, but I moved out his reach. He gave me a puzzled look, but I just smiled.

“Go ahead, I’ll be right behind you,” I told him. He shrugged and led the way. “Bye, boys” I looked at them once more before following after Odell. I sat in a chair while Odell got ready; I got my phone out of my purse and unlocked it. I had a text from my best friend, also known as my sister. I loved her like she was my real sister; we’ve been together since the 1st grade.

Gabby- We need to get together ASAP

Me- Okai, come to the MetLife Stadium, don’t ask questions, just come.

I swear she ask questions about everything, but she gives good advice, and she has always had my back. She didn’t reply, which met she was on her way.

“Alright, let’s go,” Odell spoke up. I looked up, and he was in full uniform. He had on his “Dark Knight” cleats, with black leggings, red pants, a white t-shirt, and shoulder pads. He had his helmet in his hand. He looked so good; I loved watching him play even though so many people think he can’t play. I stood up, and he held out his hand; I looked at it. Why was he trying to be like this? I thought he didn’t care. I slowly took his hand, and he smiled at me. Maybe I’m looking at this the wrong way.

“Can you hold my phone?” he asked? I nodded. We walked side by side, hand in hand, to the field.

“Good luck,” I smiled. Odell handed me his phone; I know his password just like he knows mine. We had this no secret thing between us, and it actually worked out well.

“Thanks” he kissed my cheek and then jogged away. I sat on the chair provided for me, and I wanted to tell my parents, but I knew they would be against me again.

“Ashlyn! A visitor is here for you,” Eli called out. He was being followed by Gabby. She got here pretty quick. I got up, and she jogged to me, and we hugged. I loved her so much. She’s been away in Atlanta for modeling. She’s fantastic at it too. She wore black heels, blue skinny jeans, and a black shirt that hugged her figure. Her makeup was on point like always, and her hair was pulled up into a bun. She had he Coach purse on her right arm, her iPhone 7 plus was in her right hand, and her sunglasses were in her other hand. Even though she was hella famous and pretty, she stayed my best friend.

“How have you been,” she asked? She looked flawless. She glowed. I turned to the boys, and they all were watching her. I looked at Odell; he met my eye and smiled, which made me smile, then he turned and continued practicing.

“Well,” I started to say. Eli walked up to me and stopped beside me.

“She has nothing on you. Don’t worry,” he whispered to me. I smiled; he was so sweet. Back in high school, she was popular and pretty. People told me I was lucky to be able to hang around her. My self-esteem was so low in high school that I almost committed suicide; my brother helped me out of that. Sometimes even now, when I’m with her, I feel not as attractive, but I have pretty good self-esteem, so I try not to worry about it.

“What did he say to you,” Gabby asked?

“Nothing. I’m fine, how have you been” I replied, trying to change the subject. You could never hold anything back from her; she would hound you until she got the information out of you.

“So tired. Atlanta is so fun, but I miss home. It feels good to be back” she smiled. “Did I miss much”?

“Well, my parents still hate me, my brother hopeful ending things with the girl, I’m pregnant, and I think I might like Odell” I summarized everything.

“Wait, what! Your pregnant” she asked? Of course, that’s all she heard.

“Yeah, I am, now shhh” I frowned.

“Sorry. Omg finally. I can be an Auntie/ Godmother,” she shriek. Well, at least one of us was happy about it. “It’s Odell’s, ain’t it” she finished.

Of course, she knew, “Yeah.”

“How far along are you,” she asked? Her tone was different. I could tell that she noticed how I felt about it.

“About 6 weeks,” I said.

“How is Odell taking it, or even your brother”?

“Well, Odell has been very supportive from the start. Aug was so angry at first, but now he won’t stay out of my face. I’m just glad I have their support now,” I explained.

She touched my arm, ” You have my support as well. I take it you haven’t told your parents” I shook my head, and she smiled. I love that she understands me so much. “That’s fine, I don’t blame you, but soon or later they are going to notice,” she pointed out.

“Thanks. I’m so scared. I don’t know the first thing about being a parent” I felt the tears fall down my face. She hugged me, and I cried harder. At some point, she pulled back, and Odell was standing there with a frown on his face. He got down on his knees and grabbed my hands.

“I promise you that you will never be alone these 9 months and the 18 years we have to raise the kid. Please don’t cry; it makes me feel so bad,” he said. I touched his face and smiled; there was no denying that I loved him. I leaned in and kissed him on the lips. At first, he stiffened up, but then he relaxed and kissed me back. It seemed like we were the only two in the world, and I lost myself kissing him.

“Ahem,” Gabby cleared her throat. I pulled back and looked at Gabby. She had a massive smile on her face.

“Gabby, nice to see you again” Odell smiled.

She grinned, “As well as you.” She turned to me. “Now, how’s my boyfriend”? She was talking about August. They never did date because I wouldn’t allow it, but I know they probably got together behind my back once or twice.

“He’s fine” I frowned.

“Yes, he is,” Gabby agreed. I rolled my eyes, and she laughed, and to my surprise, so did Odell.

I turned to Odell, ” Go practice.” He nodded then stood up. He pulled me up and pulled my body close to him.

“I’m gonna take you somewhere special tonight” he kissed me. I pulled back; first, it was too quiet on the field. I looked, and just as I suspected, everyone was watching us. I’m glad the coaches weren’t on the field; otherwise, they wouldn’t let me return. They said I would be a “distraction.” I don’t even look that good to be a distraction to these young men. Odell jogged back out onto the field, and I sat back down. Gabby and I talked as we waited. After practice, the guys went into the locker room and took showers. I walked with Gabby so that I didn’t have to go in there. Gabby, of course, tried to go in, but I pulled her back out.

“Y’all so cute together, ya know,” she blurted out.

I turned to her, ” Where did that come from”?

“Just watching y’all, I know that y’all would be cute together. I envy you, you know that right,” she spoke.

“Why” I looked at her?

“Your free,” she gave me a half-smile. Yeah, I’m free, but I’m not the person I wanna be.

“Don’t you’ll waste your time,” I told her. “I’m nothing special. Yeah, I’m free, but I’m nothing compared to you”.

“Ash, what did I tell you,” a voice said from behind us. I turned and saw both Eli and Odell stand there. They both looked handsome as ever. I

looked at Odell, but he just looked at Eli.

“What did you tell her,” Gabby and Odell said together. I looked at Eli, he looked at me, and we started laughing.

“Calm down; he was just helping me,” I assured them. Odell didn’t look convinced, and Gabby just watched us.

I grabbed Odell’s and Gabby’s hands and pulled them along. “Bye, Eli,” I called out.

“Keep ya head up,” he said. I looked back and smiled at him. When we got outside, we agreed to meet back at Odell’s house (mansion). Odell opened the door for me, and I got in, then he went around and got in himself. Did I tell y’all how much of gentlemen he was?

“So I’ve been thinking about you. I want you to officially move in with me,” Odell announced. I looked at him, then turned back to look out the window.

“What made you decide that all of a sudden”?

“We’ve known each other for almost two years. I like you and would like to be yours if you would have me. Also, I want to be there for both of y’all,” he answered. I took a deep breath and let it out. Moving in is a big step, like a huge step. But I know that I have feelings for him, and I know he got those same feelings. If moving in is going to get him to admit those feelings, then, by all means, I was going to take it.

“Count me in” I smiled.

WHERE DREAMS COME TRUE.

CHAPTER 18. “Yes, hold on,” I hastily removed my shirt and put on the pile of our bag and her leggings. “Wait, don’t you want photos first?”...
