I've spent years trying to find out who my biological mother is but every time I've asked, all the leads are dead ends.
While searching for her, I found out she was 15 when she had me and her name is Katherine but I couldn't find out her last name. All I have left of her is a small picture of her with me when I was born. It seems she doesn't want to be found.
Every night I lay in bed looking at the picture inside my locket of me and my biological mum. Everyday I wonder to myself if we will ever meet. I badly want to find out who and what she is like. After searching for many years I've given up hope that it won't happen.

Monday morning went by rapidly and soon enough it was 3 p.m. I took a quick shower and then strolled back into my room with a towel wrapped around me. I walked over to my wardrobe, opened it up, and pulled out my ripped black denim jeans and a red off-shoulder shirt. I didn't want to wear anything too tight or revealing.
I strolled into the bathroom, over to the sink picking up my brush and brushed my long brown hair, pulling it up into a high ponytail. Lately, I haven't been wearing much makeup on. So I didn't put much on.
Looking into the mirror I smiled. Tonight is the night I tell my friends the secret I've been keeping from everyone. I've wanted to tell Claire for a while, but every time I'm about to, she needs to do stuff.
I can't keep this secret any longer, I have to tell Claire. It must be done. Tonight is the night.
I couldn't wait for the sleepover at fraya's tonight. It is going to be so much fun. Hopefully, I'll be able to see Elijah. Maybe just maybe we will play truth or dare. I've wanted to kiss Elijah for so long. But I know we could never be because of the girl code my friends made. Secretly all I wanted was to date Elijah but can't.
Walking back into my room over to my wardrobe, I grabbed my big black bag and went back over to place it on my bed. I unzipped it, placing my silk PJs in and a couple of spare clothes and my toiletry bag. I couldn't forget my diary or my spellbook. I never go anywhere without them.
While I packed my bag full of my stuff for tonight, I heard my phone ding. I pulled it out of my back pocket to see it was a notification reminding me of the sleepover. I couldn't help but smile. Looking at the time it was 3:40 pm. Excitement kicked in.
I walked into the dining room placing my bag on the ground near the couch. Then I walked into the kitchen grabbing a cold bottle of water from the fridge and took a sip. I grabbed my big black bag full of my stuff, picked up my keys from the counter near the door, and walked out to my red BMW car.
As I started the car the radio played one of my favourite songs called,' Confident' by Demi Lovato. Something about this song always makes me feel happier and stronger.
It's a 20-minute drive from my house to Fraya's. After getting more than three red lights in a row I finally pulled up at Frayas house at 4 pm I parked out front.
Every time I come to their house, I'm amazed at how much it looks like a castle. It's an old and historic building. It's nothing like what people would expect a vampire's house to look like.
Usually, people think vampire houses are meant to be dark and spooky but that's not the first thing that comes to mind. It doesn’t feel creepy at all. Though it looks like a castle it still fits in with the style of the buildings around it. It doesn’t look out of place.
Soon after everyone arrived, parking their cars down the road. I started walking up the driveway and noticed Sarah was there. I don't understand why she's here, we aren't friends. We all walked up the driveway to the front door, stopping as I reached out to ring the doorbell.
"Tonight is going to be amazing!" Claire said in a friendly voice.
"Yeah, I agree," Mia replied.
A few seconds later the door opened to reveal fraya standing there.
"Hi guys, please come in"
Fraya held the door open for everyone as we all walked in and then fraya closed the door.
"Hey fraya, where can we put our stuff?" Asked mia
"Follow me up the stairs to the room I've prepared for tonight," said fraya.
We all followed fraya up the stairs, down the hall taking a left. It still amazes me every time I come here at how big their house is. There are so many rooms in this house. It makes me wonder what the rooms are for.
We all strolled down the hallway when I noticed Elijah's room which was three doors down from where we are having our sleepover.
Fraya opened the door, walking inside. As I walked into the room I stopped in my tracks, my mouth wide open when I saw the setup fraya had done. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, fraya had set up our own teepee tents to sleep in on the left side of the room. On the other side a table was set up with paper plates and cups. There was also a tv set up at the front of the room.
I'm amazed at how fraya arranged this. I guess I don't need the sleeping bag I brought with me. I smiled as it reminded me of when I was 6 and I would build forts with every sheet I could find. It was so much fun to make, the best feeling to curl up and fall asleep in.
Everyone walked over to the teepee tents choosing which bed they wanted and placing their stuff down at the end of the tents.
"Okay girls, it's time to play some truth or dare," fraya said.
"Oh this is going to be fun," Claire said in an excited voice.
"Is there going to be any alcohol?" asked Sarah.
"Of course, tonight we are going to party," Fraya replied.
"what- what can we have if we don't want alcohol?" I asked in a nervous voice.
Does Sarah suspect something? Does she know the secret I've been keeping from everyone? No she can't know. I know I've put on a little weight but it can't be that obvious. Right?
"why don't you want to drink alcohol?" Sarah asked curiously.
"I...I just don't want to drink tonight,'' I replied, trying not to give away her secret that she's been keeping from everyone.
"Hey Mia, don't worry we have some juice or soft drinks," said fraya.
"thanks" Mia replied.
"Mia, can you please go down to the kitchen and get an empty bottle from under the sink?" Asked fraya.
"Sure," said Mia.
"I'll go get the drinks," announced Claire.
"fraya what are the snacks?" asked Anna.
"I've got some chips and dip in the kitchen and I've ordered pizza for later" fraya explained.
Claire and I left the room together. As we were walking down the stairs talking to each other we turned the corner not watching where we were going, I bumped into one of Freya's brothers.
"Oh I'm sorry," I said shyly.
I lifted my head to see Elijah standing in front of me. His skin was golden tan, dark hair, stunning blue eyes. Pretty much the definition of "tall, dark, and handsome"
Elijah is one of the most attractive men that I've ever laid eyes on. I couldn't help but notice his deep blue eyes landing on me as wisps of hair draped across his forehead. Causing my pulse to quicken, my cheeks redden, heat coursing down to my core.
"Oh, Mia, you should watch where you're going. You never know who you will bump into, " Elijah grinned at me.
I looked down at the floor trying to hide the smile forming on my face, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
"So Elijah, where can we find the alcohol?" asked Claire.
"Follow me, I'll show you where it is," Elijah replied.
"T-thanks, Elijah," said Mia.
We both followed Elijah down the hall to the kitchen.
Claire nudged my arm and whispered into my ear, "he's hot, you should ask him out"
"Claire! I can't" said Mia.
"why?" Asked Claire.
"He's frayas brother. That is one of the girl code rules. Don't you remember?" Asked Mia.
"Of course I remember but we might have to change that tonight. I see the way you look at him and he has the same look as well," explained Claire.
"Claire it doesn't matter if I have feelings for Elijah it can't happen"
"Well, we will see about that," Claire replied.
I shook my head as we continued to follow Elijah to the kitchen.
As we were talking, little did we know that Elijah could hear every word. Vampires have amplified hearing so that they could even hear a pin drop from miles away.
As we were walking behind him, I couldn't help but stare at Elijah's firm ass.
I thought to myself 'god his ass looks amazing. I wish I could just squeeze it. And touch every….. Wait what am I thinking? Snap out of it mia'
Walking into the kitchen, Elijah walked over where they usually keep at least 4 bottles of wine and alcohol in the top cabinet.
Elijah opened the cabinet grabbing a bottle of alcohol on the right side then closed the cabinet door. He turned around and extended his hand holding the bottle of alcohol out to me.
I held my hand out grabbing the alcohol from his hand. As I grabbed it, our hands grazed each other, sending shivers down my entire body.
"Thanks, Elijah," I said shyly.
"Your welcome, " replied Elijah.
Claire walked over to the sink and opened the cabinet under the sink, grabbing an empty glass bottle.
Once Claire had the bottle in her hand and the chips, she turned around to see me blushing as I was talking to Elijah.
"Are you ready to head back up to the girls?" asked Claire.
"Oh right, " I shook my head, "yeah let's go" replied Mia.
We both walked out of the kitchen and up the stairs. Claire stopped at the top of the stairs and turned around to face me.
"You were blushing back there," said Claire.
I shook my head, "n..no I wasn't"
"if you say so" Claire held her hands up in surrender to me.
We walked back into the room over to the table on the right side of the room and placed the alcohol bottles down in the centre of the table.
Claire placed the empty bottle and the chips on the table as well then went to mingle with the girls.
I stood at the table looking over all the beverages and snacks wondering which one I wanted. I picked up a plastic cup and poured myself a glass of lemonade. I took a sip then picked up a plate.
There are so many flavours of chips. I decided on the honey soy chips. They looked so yummy. I grabbed a handful and put them on my plate.
We all were having so much fun drinking and eating when Fraya noticed the time, it was 6:00 pm. The pizza was going to be here soon.
Fraya’s brother Jace walked up the stairs to the room where we were. He had pizzas in his hands.
He knocked on the door.
Knock! Knock!
"Fraya, your pizza's just arrived, " said Jace.
Fraya walked over to Jace, "thanks Jace"
Fraya took the pizzas from Jace and turned around, lifting them in the air to us.
"pizzas here," Fraya announced as she walked over to the table at the back of the room.
"Who wants to play some truth or dare?" asked Fraya.
"hell yeah, " replied Claire.
We all grabbed our drinks and a slice of pizza and made our way to the centre of the room, taking a seat making a circle.
Fraya held the glass bottle in her hand, leaning forward, spinning it in the middle of the circle waiting to see who it would land on.
Claire crossed her fingers.
"please land on me, please land on me"
We all watched the bottle as it started slowing down and finally stopped on Claire.
"Yesss!, ok I'm ready," said Claire.
"Truth or dare?" Asked fraya.
"Hmmm, truth, " replied Claire.
"Have you ever daydreamed about your crush in public and felt turned on?" Asked fraya.
"Of course. Do remember the guy jake that was in our English class. He always sat in front of us and I could never concentrate. So I would daydream about him. His touch.."
Claire reached out and spun the bottle. It stopped on Sarah.
"Truth or dare?" Asked Claire.
Sarah took a sip of her drink then smiled, "truth"
"Okay, what do you have against mia?" Claire asked.
"Fine, you want to know? Mia is always perfect. She always gets her way. Even if people were there first, " Sarah explained.
I looked at Sarah, "I have never done anything to you. And I'm certainly not perfect"
"I don't have to explain myself to you"
I thought to myself, 'what is her problem? I honestly don't know what I did to make her hate me'
Sarah spun the bottle next and landed on fraya.
"Truth or dare?" Sarah asked
Fraya- "um, truth"
Sarah- "have you ever stolen anything in your life?"
"Yes…" fraya lowered her head to the ground, "when I was 8 I stole a bracket from my mum. She got so mad at me when she found out. I instantly regretted stealing it instead of asking to borrow it."
Once again the bottle was spun and landed on me.
"Truth or dare?" Asked fraya.
"Truth," I replied.
"Um ok, have you ever cheated on anyone?" Asked fraya.
"No I have never cheated on anyone and I never would" mia replied.
Next the bottle landed on anna.
"Truth or dare?" I asked.
"Dare"
"I dare you to twerk for 30 seconds"
"Oh okay," anna replied in a shy voice
Anna nervously stood up taking a breath she tweaked for the 30 seconds and then quickly sat back down.
Everyone has had two goes. We were all about to finish playing when I nervously spoke up.
"Can I have one more go?" Mia asked.
I watched everyone exchange looks and nod.
"Of course you can mia, " replied Fraya.
Sarah rolled her eyes and shook her head.
Secretly I hoped I would get dared to kiss Elijah. I've had a huge crush on him ever since I bumped into him at college.
"Truth or dare?" Asked Claire.
"Dare," replied Mia.
A mischievous smile formed on Claire's face.
"Ooooh, I've got a good one. I dare you to go down and kiss both of frayas brothers"
I couldn't believe what I just heard.
I thought to myself, 'Did I hear that right? Am I finally going to be able to kiss Elijah?'
I looked at fraya who was stunned at the dare. I saw the look on frayas face.
"Fraya, are you okay with this?" Mia asked nervously.
Fraya shook her head, "it's just a dare and I know this won't ever happen again so yeah go for it"
Everyone followed me down the hallway to make sure I went through with the dare. As I made my way down the stairs I felt my heartbeat fasten. My mouth felt bone dry. This is exactly what I wanted. I've always wanted to know what it would feel like to kiss Elijah. I stopped at the end of the stairs and turned around to fraya.
"Where would your brothers be right now?" Asked mia.
"Usually they are in the dining room having a drink," Replied fraya.
I took a big gulp as I made my way to the dining room. Stopping in the doorway, I saw Jace and Elijah sitting in the dining room having a drink of alcohol. I took one last deep breath making my way over to them.
Straight away they both lifted their heads looking at me. I went over to Jace first. I bent over to kiss Jace on his cheek. I stood back up and looked over at Elijah.
As I made my way over to Elijah, the ground moved beneath my feet. My heartbeat quickened with every step.
I bit my lower lip, taking a seat down on his lap, I ran my hand up to his chest, stopping on his shoulder.
I looked into his dreamy blue eyes and leaned in closer to him, straight away I smelt his masculine, cologne. Smiling, I kissed him.
I thought to herself, Finally, I get to kiss Elijah. This is everything I've ever wanted. The feeling of his lips on mine feels amazing'
To my surprise, Elijah cupped both my cheeks and kissed me back.
As our lips parted I was left with a tingling sensation from his lips. I stood up making my way back to the girls, who had seen everything. I bit her lower lip smiling, hoping for it to happen again.
"wow if you do this every sleepover, count me in!" Jace said cheekily.
We all made our way back up to the room. As the door closed behind us Claire turned around to me.
"Tell us everything! What was it like?" Claire asked.
I nervously looked at fraya knowing she didn't want to know.
I sighed, "it was ok"
"What do you mean it was okay?" Claire asked, hoping for the answers.
"It was a good kiss"
I gave Claire a stern stare because I knew Claire wouldn't give up. Claire has always been like this since she was little. I knew I would have to eventually tell Claire but not right now.
Changing the subject, Fraya walked over to the tv and picked up a bunch of DVDs.
"Who's ready for a movie?" Asked fraya.
"Yesssss!" Everyone replied.
"Okay time to get into our PJs then we will choose a movie"
Everyone took turns using the bathroom to change into their PJs. I grabbed my PJs and made my way towards the bathroom. I knocked on the door as I was busting to go.
"Who's in there? Please hurry up."
"Oh, quit your whining," Sarah called out.
"Sarah! Hurry up." I banged on the door once again.
Three minutes later, Sarah opened the door smirking as she slowly walked out of the bathroom. She shoved my arm and walked in front of me, making me nearly drop my PJs. I hurried into the bathroom and closed the door behind me.
I didn't know if I was going to make it because these days, I had a weak bladder. I made it just in time. I washed my hands and put on my silk PJs.
I looked in the mirror, thinking about the kiss with Elijah. I touched my lips as I still had the tingling sensation from Elijah's kiss.
I finished in the bathroom and walked out bumping into Jace.
"Oh sorry Jace"
"It's alright mia"
Jace Pov
My eyes roamed down Mia's body, taking in her beautiful figure. A faint smile formed on my face as I looked down at her pj's.
Jace thought to himself, 'I wonder if Mia is single? Would she ever date a vampire?'
Who wouldn't want to date Mia, like look at her? She's stunning. Yeah I've noticed she's put on a little weight but that just makes her more attractive.
"Nice PJs mia"
She spoke in a soft voice, "thanks"
Mia pov
I walked back into the room over to my teepee tent and sat down pulling my blanket up over me. Fraya had made popcorn for everyone to eat as we watched 'never been kissed.'
Halfway through the movie, I found myself drifting off to sleep. As I remembered the feeling for Elijah's hands on my cheeks and his lips on mine. Wishing that we could someday be a couple. But for now, I am just holding onto that wonderful moment between us.
