When I thought of spending my time tonight dancing the night away on the Upper East side, I didn’t think that would include playing spin the bottle with a bunch of people that I didn’t know. Well, I knew Tia and Ethan, but there had to be about ten or twelve people that I didn’t recognise.
Why did I allow Tia to rope me into this childish game? I groaned in silent thought to myself but was dragged out of it when the bottle started slowly down on its way toward me. I was already contemplating leaning in one direction in hopes of being able to evade the nozzle pointing at me, so when it passed me by a few millimetres, a sigh of relief escaped me.
I wasn’t a prude, but I did like choosing which people I had to kiss. And my preference was kissing sober people. While I was perfectly sober – perhaps not completely sober, but pretty sober if you asked my unbiased opinion – these people were not. Everyone was a little tipsy and I could only imagine the bad breath
I had been right about the bottle landing near me, but instead of me – luckily – it landed on the girl sat next to me. When she pulled a face at the notion of kissing the guy who span the bottle, the most eager out of everyone to play the game, I struggled to contain my laughter. Tia had to nudge me with her shoulder for the prompt to at least try to hide my laughter.
The girl pulled another face and didn’t bother hiding the distasteful look on her face as she wiped her mouth on the back of her hand, and I didn’t blame her for it. The kiss had lasted several seconds longer than I would have allowed it, and there was far too much tongue and slobber from his part.
I was surprised that I hadn’t gagged at the sight, and I could only imagine how she felt.
Seeing as the bottle landed on her last, she span it and much to my surprise – and not nearly as much dread as it had the first time – it landed on me.
I turned to face the girl, looking just as surprised as she did. When I shrugged, she smiled, and we leaned in to each other. This wasn’t my first time kissing a girl given that spin the bottle was a common game at parties when I was still in high school.
“You’ve got some lipstick on your mouth,” I laughed and reached out to wipe it away seeing as I was the reason it was there in the first place.
Kissing her wasn’t bad. It wasn’t bad at all but frankly, I was just grateful that there hadn’t been too much tongue, bad breath and not nearly as much slobber I had watched her wipe away from her mouth after kissing the first guy.
“Thank you,” she chuckled. “You’re the best kiss I’ve had all night.”
“And that’s the best compliment I’ve received all day,” I returned her grin before turning to spin the bottle.
I made sure to give it a quick, tight spin, hopeful that a longer spin would save me from a slobbery kiss or even worse, either Tia or Ethan. I loved my friends but having to kiss either of them would be nothing short of a nightmare.
When the bottle began slowing down and it passed the slobbery kisser that I had nearly gagged at earlier, I released a sigh of relief. My eyes followed the bottle as it came to a gradual stop and when it stopped moving completely, I lifted my eyes to land on a dark-haired, brown-eyed hunk who was well-built, but his overall look was softened by the somewhat nerdy, harry potter style glasses he wore. Personally, if I wore glasses, I would have chosen to wear contacts tonight, but then again, I didn’t look nearly as good as he did.
There was something familiar about this man, but I couldn’t put my finger on it, and this strange feeling stopped me from even contemplating ending the night underneath this man, in his bed.
My eyes locked with his and simultaneously, we both shrugged. When people began getting restless around us, we both leaned in to meet and the middle.
The kiss was nice, but it didn’t knock my socks off, and it certainly wasn’t something to write home about. there was a simple touch of our tongues, just to satisfy the crowd of eager people around us that were watching but other than that, it was barely more than a simple peck.
Frankly, the kiss with the girl beside me, whose name I now learnt to be Freya, had been far more impressive. And that was saying something since I didn’t swing for the same team
However, neither of them held a candle to the way Massimo made me feel with one look.
I pursed my lips at the thought and shook my head. The plan was to forget all about him last night and force him out of my system. And I certainly couldn’t do that if I kept comparing him to everyone I met or kissed tonight.
Tia shot me an excited grin and wiggled her eyebrows suggestively, making no effort of trying to hide the way she kept sending pointed looks at the guy that I had just kissed, but I was quick to shake my head.
I was looking to get laid tonight, but not by this man.
The game of spin the bottle continued until just about everyone had had a go. I had been forced to watch several people kiss, including Tia and Ethan where the former had first been forced to kiss that slobbery guy before it then landed on Ethan, and he was able to erase the previous kiss. The game had ended then which both Tia and Ethan seemed pretty happy about.
I guess they didn’t enjoy playing spin the bottle as much as they thought they would.
“Do you women want to get a drink?” Ethan offered. While he was speaking to us, his eyes were narrowed as he glanced around, no doubt looking for that slobbery mess that got to kiss Tia during the game. When she reached out for his arm, her grip on him noticeably tight, I knew she was thinking the same thing.
“You guys go ahead. I’ll catch up with you later,” I told them, craning my neck to glance around the large room. “I need to find a bathroom.”
“Do you want me to come with you?” Tia offered, but I was quick to shake my head.
“Go get a drink,” I denied. “As soon as I’m done, I’ll come find you guys. I’m going to need something to sanitize my mouth after you guys roped me into kissing random strangers.”
“You’re complaining but you seemed to really like the last guy,” Tia grinned, and the way she looked awfully proud of herself, you’d think that she had all but planned. “Why don’t you go find him for a drink after you get back from the bathroom?”
“And why don’t you go find that saliva guy and kiss him some more?” I laughed and she gasped. Before she could get me back, I chuckled and rushed away in my search for the bathroom.
I loved vodka and just drinking in general, but my bladder couldn’t hold that much liquid. The pressure on my poor little bladder only increased when I discovered the lines for the downstairs bathroom to be far too long than I could possibly wait for, so I ventured upstairs in hopes that they would be less busy. I had no luck with the first bathroom as that line winded all the way down the hallway and to the steps. But luckily for me, this same thing had happened to me before, so I knew where the second bathroom was upstairs.
Unluckily for me, it appeared that I wasn’t the only one. Though I guess having to wait behind one person was far better than having to wait behind ten or fifteen people.
“So, you know of this bathroom as well?” the one guy in front of me chuckled as he turned around to face me.
“I used it last time when I was busting for a wee,” I told him with a shrug. “What about you? How did you discover it?” I asked, surprised to see anyone here. I mean, the last time that I had stumbled upon this bathroom, there was no line and there certainly wasn’t anyone already in the bathroom.
“I’m Seamus’ friend,” he told me. “I’m Riccardo, by the way.”
“I’m Yasemin,” I smiled politely.
An awkward moment of silence passed between us as we glanced away from each other, neither of us knowing what to say to the other. I probably wouldn’t have been so anti-social if I wasn’t so focused on wetting myself right now.
Things only got more awkward when the faint sounds of moans and groans sounded from the bathroom.
“So, it sounds like they’re having fun in there,” I chuckled in hopes of making the situation less awkward to deal with. If I didn’t feel like I was ready to empty my bladder at any spot now, I would turn around to leave. The idea of using the bathroom after a couple had just had sex in there didn’t appeal greatly to me, but I wasn’t in the position to be picky right now.
“As long as they hurry up, I don’t care about anyone else,” Riccardo grumbled, starting to look just as desperate as me. “I probably shouldn’t say this in front of a lady, but my balls are starting to fucking hurt from how much I need to wee. If they’re going to take much longer, I’m going to need you to keep an eye out while I piss in one of these rooms.”
“Only if you promise to return the favour for me as soon as you’re finished,” I joked, and when he laughed, I grinned.
Riccardo was a very handsome man. I probably would have noticed this earlier if my mind wasn’t otherwise preoccupied. His skin was a very pale tan, almost sun-kissed but not quite. His eyes were a light, hazel brown and his hair only a shade or two darker. His build was very slim and lean, and he was only a few inches taller than me, but this man screamed masculine.
Or perhaps it was the fact that I just knew that he was Italian. As if his name wasn’t a dead giveaway already.
“You’ve got yourself a deal, Yasemin,” Riccardo chuckled.
Luckily for Seamus, we didn’t have to resort to that option as only a few moments later, the bathroom door opened. Just as we had expected, a man and a woman emerged from the bathroom. I didn’t know any of them personally, but I had seen them around campus a few times. In fact, I was sure that I even had class with the guy and knew for a fact that the woman he had just fucked in the bathroom most certainly wasn’t his girlfriend.
What a man slut!
“I swear that’s not his girlfriend,” Riccardo murmured under his breath, except it was more of an announcement than a murmur.
“You have a girlfriend?” the woman gasped in shock, and the both of us watched eagerly as he tried to make excuses for himself before raising her hand in the air to give him a tight slap.
While I didn’t condone violence in any way, regardless of if it male or female on the receiving end, this had to be one of those rare situations where it was deserved.
“He deserved that if you ask me,” Riccardo shrugged.
“Same,” I agreed, turning my nose up. “He definitely has a girlfriend. I’ve seen her with him a few times.”
“Cheaters are the worst,” Riccardo pursed his lips but then he blinked and turned his attention to me. “Ladies first,” he prompted me, gesturing to the now vacated bathroom.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes,” Riccardo chuckled and nodded. “You might want to get in there before I change my mind.”
“Thanks,” I murmured before rushing past him into the bathroom, not willing to risk it.
I wasted a moment to spare my nose up at the distinct musky scent of sex in the air, but I didn’t hover around to focus on it. Instead, I rushed to do my business and wash my hands, fully aware that Riccardo was still out there and seeing as I had been in his position only moments ago, it would be unfair of me to keep him waiting for long.
“That was quick,” Riccardo exhaled in relief as I joined him out in the hallway once again.
“I didn’t want to keep you waiting out here for long,” I told him and moved out of the way to let him pass, but he didn’t budge. Instead, he continued staring at me. “Aren’t you busting for a wee?” I asked, chuckling.
“I am,” he nodded, his lips curling up at the corners into a smirk. “But I’m just taking a moment to take in the sight of the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen before. Possibly the most beautiful woman that I’ll ever see.”
“I’m sure you say that to all the girls,” I rolled my eyes, though struggled to keep my lips from lifting at the corners into a small smile. “Now get in there before you wet your pants.”
“Yes, boss,” he grinned and saluted me before heading into the bathroom.
The plan had been to use the bathroom and then head downstairs for a drink with Tia and Ethan, possibly even Nala and Toby if we saw them, but I found myself rooted to the spot.
There was something about Ricardo that had clearly captured my attention in a way that no one else had this evening. Not even that guy that I had been locked lips with not long ago.
And for that reason, I found myself rooted to the spot, waiting for him.
I checked my phone one last time before making the final decision. There were a few notifications that looked interesting, but none of them was the single message notification that I was stupidly waiting around for.
This was it. He was it.
Riccardo might not know it yet, but he was the man I intended to get under tonight to get over Massimo. Hopefully tomorrow would be a new day for me and I could leave behind this, worrisome, anxious Yasemin in the past.
