I looked down at the test; this can’t be right. How can I be pregnant? We took precautions; we used a condom, so why. I can’t have a baby. I’m not fit to be a mother. I looked back at the test, and it read positive. My life is officially over; I can kiss everything goodbye. I sat down on the tub and cried. My parents aren’t going to be happy, but they aren’t who I’m concerned about. My brother is my concern. He’s going to be so disappointed in me. I fucked up big time, man. Oh my gosh, what about my baby daddy? How do I even tell him? He does not need a kid in his life. I mean, come on, he got football to worry about.
Knock, Knock.
I wiped my tears away, “Just a moment.” I put the test in the box and put the box in my purse. I stood up, and I opened the door; my brother stood there.
“Hey Lil sis, what’s wrong” he looked concerned. I wanted to tell him, but I wanted to be sure that I was actually pregnant first.
“Nothing just stressed. It is good to let a few tears fall every now and then, right” I lied.
“Of course, but come on, the party is bout to start up” he grabbed my hand. I let him drag me back down the stairs and down to his friend’s 30th party. He immediately surrounded many girls; I just walked over to an empty table and sat down. He was so popular with the ladies; too bad they were all so thirsty to see that he wasn’t interested in any of them.
Someone tapped my shoulder, “Ashlyn, why are you all alone.” I knew that voice anywhere. That voice belongs to none other than Odell Beckham Jr., the baby daddy.
I hugged him, “I’m just not feeling it today.” He gave me a smile and sat down beside me. We were friends, and we had a one-nighter; that’s all it was supposed to be, but I was starting to have feelings for him. Have I told him about those feelings? No. He is my brother’s old friend, and I don’t think August would approve of us dating anyway.
“Ash, what’s on your mind,” Odell asked again.
I smiled, “Nothing.”
He took my hand and smiled at me. I held on to his hand, hoping and praying the test was wrong. An hour later, I was still at the party; I was only there because Odell wanted me to stay and talk to him. We had our laughs, and we got severe while we talked. I had known him for almost a year now, but this was our first time actually sitting down and really getting to know each other. He was pretty interesting; he talked about his baby brother Sonny. He showed me a picture, and Sonny was a cutie pie. He showed me a picture of his sister and his brother. They all looked alike.
“Don’t y’all look cute together” August’s voice came from behind us. Odell and I turned around to face him. Odell let my hand go; I don’t think August noticed either.
“Shut up” I frowned.
“Well, I tried,” August added.
“Tried? You never let me date anyone. You always in my way,” I commented.
August looked at me, “Ashlyn, you okay?” I looked at the floor; I didn’t feel good.
I stood up and grabbed my purse and keys, “Gotta go.” Before they could say anything else, I hurried away from the table and headed toward the door.
“Ashlyn,” someone called out! I turned and came face to face with Amelia Joyner. August has been messing around with her for some time; I don’t like her; she is fake. I tried telling August once, but he told me I was hating.
“What” I looked at her.
“Don’t ruin this party for him. Go back over there and talk to August. We can’t do anything because he always worried about you,” she said. I looked at her like I really looked at her. I wanted to hit her and mess her ass up, but I caught a glimpse at August making his way towards us. I stepped closer to her so only she would hear what I was about to say.
“If you ever try to tell me what to do again, I will beat your ass. Your just another fling for August, so watch yourself before you end up being nothing,” I told her.
“Everything ight over here” August walked up to us. I looked at her face; she looked spooked.
“I’m outta here” I blew August off. I walked out of the building and to my car.
“Ash, wait up” I looked back, and Odell was running towards me. I stopped at my car and waited for him to catch up to me.
“What’s up, Odell,” I said.
He frowned, “What’s wrong. I never saw you act like that before.” I opened my mouth to tell him, and then I saw August come out of the building, followed by Amelia.
“I gotta go,” I told Odell.
He called out to me, but I just got in the car. August got close to Odell when I took off headed to the clinic. When I got there, it was only a few cars there. I parked towards the back. If you saw my 2016 red Escalade parked by the older cars, it would be a problem.
I walked into the building and went up to the desk, and got the information. I had to sit in the waiting room and fill out some papers. After I took the back up the desk and was told to wait in the waiting area. A young girl was sitting and looking so scared. I sat down beside her to help her.
“Hey, I’m Ashlyn” I held my hand out. She took it, “Becca.” She was shaking so bad, it made my heart hurt.
“So, what do you like to eat?” I asked, trying to get her mind off it. She looked at me crazy, then she relaxed; she probably figured out what I was trying to do.
“I love strawberries,” she smiled. What a coincidence.
“Really? So do I. They are so juicy and taste wonderful,” I said.
Her face lit up, “That’s crazy!” I nodded, and then we started talking about other things that we loved. A few minutes later, the doctor called her back, and she left me still excited. A few seconds later, another doctor called me back; he seemed friendly, but I still didn’t want him checking me; it was just weird. He led me to the backroom, and I was told to change.
After a few minutes, he came back in to get started. I lay on the bed, and the doctor did his magic. After a few weird and having him touch me moments, he left the room. I was told to get dressed, and so I did. I sat on the bed and waited for him to return. I looked down at my phone and saw I had five messages and eight missed calls from my brother. I looked at my messages, one read: Where are you?!?! Another read: Please talk to me. I couldn’t face him now; I locked my phone and put it in my purse.
“I have your results” the doctor came back into the room smiling. I didn’t say anything, just waited. He sat on the stool in front of me.
“Ms. Alsina, you are pregnant,” he announced. My head dropped; why? I knew my life was officially over. August is going to be disappointed, and Odell is going to hate me forever. The doctor told me to take a few minutes alone; I left, got in my car, and cried immediately. I cried for a good ten minutes straight before I got myself together and drove home. I parked inside the gate, right behind Odell’s car. I got out and walked up to the door. I barely opened the door when August was in my face, yelling and screaming, asking me where I was and what I was thinking. I saw Odell walk around the corner, and Amelia followed.
“Get out,” I told her.
“You don’t tell me what to do, and plus, this is Augs house,” she replied. I was fed up with this bitch. I dropped my purse, ran up to her, and gave her one punch to the nose. I went in for more, but Odell pulled me away from her.
“Ouch! She punched me in the nose,” She complained, holding her nose.
I smiled, “Be glad that’s all I’m able to do.” August walked over to her and helped her out. I was done with all this bullshit and tired of him taking up for her.
“August, why are you steady upon her. She is a rude bitch, and she disrespects me every time,” I asked?
“Would you just stop? She ain’t like that; you just want her to be,” he said.
“Ughhh! I’m done, fuck this and fuck you” I screamed! I went upstairs and into my room. I got out my two suitcases and packed as much shit that would fit into each one. Odell followed me up to the room. He just watched me, and I packed everything. When I got done, I sat on the bed and cried again. He held me as I cried.
“Shhh, just tell me what’s bothering you. I’m by yo side no matter what,” Odell mumbled. I knew I could trust him, but I just didn’t know how he would take the news.
I took a deep breath, “I’m pregnant.” He didn’t say a word; he just kept rubbing my back. After a good ten minutes, he spoke up.
“Come stay with me; we’ll figure it out” he stood us both up. I nodded, and he grabbed my suitcases. I walked down the stairs first, and he followed. We got to the door, and I picked up my purse when August came into the room.
“Ash, where you going,” he asked?
“Choose right now. Me or her,” I demanded. He looked at me; he was really trying to decide who he wanted.
“There’s your answer. I’m your fucking blood sister, and you are choosing a hoe over me. Goodbye, Auggy,” I let him know. I walked out the door, and Odell followers after, I never looked back. He took his car, and I followed him in mine.
